Icon2 SPOON Sports P13 ECU & Mods

Hey guys i'm running an authentic Spoon Sports p13 Ecu and cannot seem to find any specs or information on it.... (I'v searched extensively)

In fact a lot of people don't even believe it exists so I've posted some pics up for those of you.

Anyway like i said I can't find any information on it other than the vtec point @ 5k, Raised rev limiter, changes fuel maps & it advances ignition timing. Anybody running a SPOON program that know what it does?? I'm really trying to match the parts they used to Tune it with, if I can.

My current setup is JDM h22 I/H/E FPR & spoon ecu..

I would like to add a bored TB from maxbore.. Is this ECU going to Adjust to the larger 66mm TB accordingly? I'm sure more power can still be gained from A/F ratio tuning ... I'm just curious whats the best Modifications setup this Chip was designed for. I want to gain maximum performance from it.

Any help or point me in the right direction would be appreciated, Thanks.

ummm...to be honest tuning is the best possible outcome. If you just try to match parts too what the maps were designed for its still kinda a guessing game and you won't likely get the full potential of your motor. All motors respond a bit different to fuel and timing regardless how similar they are. Two similar h22s could respond quite a bit differently to the same tune with the same mods even (not a huge difference, but they will not be exactly the same)

I'm curious about this myself though because needless to say you have an expensive ecu and want to use it which I understand completely. I wish you good luck and will pay attention to this post to see the outcomes.

One thing I'd like to ask if the spoon ecu's are tunable at all. I don't know much about the spoon ecu itself. If it is however tunable you can make small adjustments and you'd probably be well off. Spoon could however even use a software that we can't even read or edit. I'm not sure. Bump anyway for more info from people who actually know about the spoon ecus.

I'm running an authentic spoon ecu version 4 at the moment. I've also got a OBD1 PR3 ecu chipped and ready for my S200 hondata BTW, but this post is about the Spoon ECU. I had similar mods on my JDM H22 when I put in the ECU and I noticed right away on my gauges that I began to run lean. I then added more fuel from the FPR and the car responded nicely. My tuner uses an accelerometer when we don't make it to the dyno and by his responses, I know we made more power (but not an overwhelming amount). Since then I've gone on to add loads of parts including cams, valvetrain, IM, milled head, mild porting, 70mm TB, FW, new clutch, etc.....I left the spoon ecu on before I eventually run the Hondata.

My impressions....the car hauls *** now. The spoon ECU seems to have become alive and it really acts fiercely in collab with all the parts. I am taking in too much air on idle from the 70mm, so I have an idle surge issue but I'm working on it. I am going to dyno with both the spoon ECU and the Hondata so I can have a proper reference, but it appears that the spoon is basically for a mildly modded vehicle, with a very aggressive ignition map and a lean fuel map.

BTW...other than the 5000 rpm vtec engagement...I can't tell you much about technical specs about this ECU either. I've swung over 8300 rpm and still haven't hit the limiter.

- yea I believe thats so. from what I know it Advances ignition timing aggressively and has vtec engagment at 5K - 8500k and leans out the fuel some.

sounds like a pretty good H map to put some parts on.. just not really sure where or how far I should try to go with this. I'd like to add some Pro1's and have my throttle body done. . really tryin to open her up ya know!

Kinday I thot about raising the fuel pressure.. It runs smoother now that I raised it, i'm still just kinda unfamiliar with how I should run it.

Here are my findings from a few years ago:

Since then, I switched to a Hondata S200 and have been making more power.

Thanks Keith, I actually remember seeing this article when I was doing my research. It seems to pull 5whp through out..

I would think with the proper modifications that were used would net a few more whp than 5? I mean realistically I was hoping for something more like 10whp..

you're thinking in terms of peak horsepower, power picked up throughout the powerband is much more useful than a higher peak. think about it like that and you're actually picking up a lot more than 5whp. for example if you picked up 10whp at a certain point on the map compared to stock, that's useable power that you did not have before.
