Re: Tranny Code for the SiR S-Spec LSD tranny (satan_srv)
Which tranny offered the closest gear ratio? say the best for drag racing? and which one had the highest gear ratio for top speed? just curious b/c i want to do a tranny swap this summer and i have yet to figure out which one is the best for certain set-ups. I have h23/h22 frankenstein in my 93 lude.

Good luck, I looked for one the whole time I had my lude and only found type-s. And if you do find one prepare to pay 2k plus.

Well, Joel you forced me to review an European Honda EPC, so I can list all the trannies met in euro ludes. Truly speaking I don't know which one comes with LSD, but I think I can add some info to your list.
Below tranny codes (manual) for 2.2 VTEC engines met in Europe.
M2F5- 4 gen
M2X5- 5 gen VTi S 1997
M2V5- 5 gen VTi 1997
M2P4- VTi 1999
M2R4- VTi S 1999<-updated
and of course U2Q7 from ATR (yummie- I love it )

Re: (2trix)
I don't think the M2B4 ratios are quite right. I got one just for the taller 5th gear. This is what they shoud be:
M2B4 - 3.307 - 1.950 - 1.360 - 1.034 - 0.787 - 4.266 LSD
I had the sucker apart and counted the teeth on the gears. So I know this is right for my M2B4 anyway. This is also in the prelude specifications and stats thread...

Yeah this is just a list of H22a trannies though...the FAQ has the H23 and F22 trannies.
As for M2A8...is it clear the code? maybe it's M2A4? Otherwise I haven't heard of it...but it's prelude because of the M, and it's nearly M2A4 so I would make the assumption it's very similar to the M2A4/M2F4

2point6 has different JDM prelude gear ratios listed:
M2B4 (JDM LSD). M2J5 (JDM). M2A4 (JDM)
1. 3.307.......... 1. 3.307.......... 1. 3.307
2. 1.950.......... 2. 1.810.......... 2. 1.950
3. 1.360.......... 3. 1.269.......... 3. 1.360
4. 1.034.......... 4. 0.966.......... 4. 1.034
5. 0.787.......... 5. 0.787.......... 5. 0.787
FD 4.266......... FD 4.062.......... FD 4.266
*Above info taken from teardown and tooth counts.
Anyone know what this is trying to tell me?
http://www.housemanautosport.c....html
It has shift RPM and max speed, but I'm not sure if houseman is suggesting shifting there or what. Doesn't seem to make sense.

looks like jdm trannies may all have a long 5th..
anyways on the page you posted. Shift rpms means where you end up in rpms after you shift given the gear ratios

you can get an M2B4 tranny anywhere from 800-1000, for the person stating they were going to drop 1300. you cant do an atts tranny conversion without an atts block. ill sell u my block and tranny lol i hate it, cant wait till i can throw it off the roof. good luck with that one.

I got it now, thanks. Hrm, VTEC engages at 5500 stock? I guess that means you will drop out of VTEC when shifting into 3rd gear at 7400rpm. owch.

Re: Tranny Code for the SiR S-Spec LSD tranny (kotetu)
Personally I think the best H22 tranny out there is the T2W4 LSD. It offers almost the highest 1st gear > then 2nd, 3rd and 4th are higher than rest (except the U2Q7), but finishes with a lower 5th to save fuel on the highway. Plus has LSD. For all out performance though, I think the U2Q7 notches even this one out a step due to it's higher 5th gear. Personally I use 5th to conserve fuel in city and like to get best HWY MPG possible, so I vote for the T2W4. Only wish it had the 3.307 first gear ratio > then there would be no better (well again unless the U2Q7 also picked it up as well performance wise
T2W4 - 3.285 - 2.090 - 1.481 - 1.071 - 0.812 - 4.266 LSD
U2Q7 - 3.285 - 2.090 - 1.481 - 1.071 - 0.870 - 4.266 LSD
Bottom line > good luck trying to find either of these #1) for cheap and #2) separate from a motor/tranny swap package deal. (I know, I tried to find one alone but had to buy the motor with it.) But hey, I'm not complaining considering it was mated to the Type-S H22 engine c 220 hp!
