Re: Resonator or no resonator? (Paul H22A4)
you don't need one, but I like having a resonator on my car. It keeps it more quite and does not take away any real HP. It's personal preference really.

resonator only makes the exhaust note deeper, it's not going to make it much more quiet unless you get the kind with the louvered core. Those kill horsepower though. I suggest magnaflows straight through resonators.

Re: (sniffthese)
resonaters are the way to go, i have one on my nissans exhaust and its deep and clear where my friend has no resonater in his integra and it sounds like a high pitched buzzing.

The amount of frequencies filtered out directly proportional to the drop in velocity from recirculation.
The bigger the quieter. You will lose probably 1-2hp per resonator.

Nah, you won't lose that much horsepower. I'd say the power lost from installing a louvered resonator is negligible/immeasurable.
You DO want a resonator; trust me.......your eardrums will thank you later. Go for the longest one you can fit.

Care to explain that? Louvered is going to kill flow velocity. You must be joking.
And I am talking about perforated core, which will still rob you of about 1-2 hp. compared to straight pipe.

Re: Resonator or no resonator? (sniffthese)
i still have my resonator but a test pipe in place of my cat and mr car is the loudest out of all my friends( 2001 prelude) ....my friends have wrx, rsx-s, srt4, mp3, civic si all without cats and all with exhaust and mine is the loudest by far...I hate how loud my car is, im looking to get another resonator put in to quiet it down, can any1 reccomend where i should put another resonator or what kind i should get...thanks

I may be confused on the terms, in my mind louvered=perforated core....am I wrong?
The common resonators used are a perforated core surrounded by a larger canister, sometimes filled with fiberglass. Since it is a free-flow design, it robs very little flow, and therefore very little power. But it also does not quieten down the exhaust note nearly as much as the more restrictive resonators.
I was talking about a perforated resonator; no, it will not kill the velocity, and no i wasn't joking.
