replacing head gasket, should I shave the head while I'm at it??
My car has gotten antifreeze in the oil and or oil in the antifreeze so I talked to 4 different mechanics and they all said it is most likely th head gasket and I take my car to my mechanic this week and I'm going to have him replace the timing belt and the water pump while he is at it to save on labor. He told me that if the head is warped he'll have to mill/shave the head to get it perfectly flat, my question is should I have him mill the head more than just .01 thousandths so I can bump up the compression. My H23 has 127,000 miles and could benifit from this, are there any down sides to milling the head to increase compression? More fuel compsumption, possible head issues? How much can the head be safely milled and will he and/or the shop he takes it to know the maximum amount? I figure if I'm gonna spend $500 to get all this **** done I might as well boost the hp a bit. Is there anything else that should be done while he has the head off so I can save on labor? Last time I did a compression check it was about 150 one 1, 2, and 3 and #4 was at 140.

if you have chocolate milky stuff in your cooling system then that prolly means either your block is cracked, head is cracked, or head is warped
in my dads case, his head was cracked.
good luck tho

thats a positve on the milky light brown with a bit of white mixed in and this is in both the antifreeze and oil cap. Don't you think it could just be a bad head gasket??

my mechanic told me that if it was just in the engine then it would be a headgasket... if its in the cooling system then its prolly something a lil more hardcore
