Default Is it recomended to replace both front and rear brakes at the same time?

I am needing to replace the rear brake pads, is it wise to go ahead and do the fronts at the same time?

Another question at the same time, going to go aftermarket on the new pads. Does any one know what Hondas OEM is, is it ceramic? What is a good aftermarket brand. Thanks.

change at same time. . . not really. check the front to see what kinda shape they are in. the front does like 65% or 70% of the stopping so the front wears quicker. different kind of brakes organic = crap semi-metalic= ok ceramic = great for the street carbon metalic = great stopping power but tons of brake dust

Awesome, I am just a normal OEM type guy with nothing special added to my vtec. I drive it to work and home that is about it. I'll get the ceramics from Napa.

I think I am 3/1 front to rear on my car......
If I were you, Id only use OEM Honda pads......the others will do barely anything in street conditions and will dust up your wheels like no tomorrow.
Also, don't buy expensive rotors.....$25 parts store specials will do just fine

Stick with the ceramics. OEM pads cause lots of wheel dust, ceramics cause 90% less. Raybestos ceramics are good.

Thanks all for the help I went with Oriley premium house brand, they said they were ceramic. I'll see how that goes.

Ok, quick help, replaced the break and did what the HELMS told me to do... I pressed the break petal and it is very tight now, very little play in the petal. I still have it raised and when I spin the roter it is hard to turn, is that a noral condition that goes away?

Which wheel is tough to spin, front or rear? If rear, sorry to ask, but is the ebrake engaged? If done correctly, while in neutral and ebrake off, all 4 wheels should spin freely, with no resistance whatsoever.

No it wasn't the ebrake. I started it up and it spun more freely. I drove it and it seams fine. I think it just needed to be started because the brake petal was much less stiff after restarting. Thanks for all the help. Rear wheels by the way.

I know that the OEM organics on my Prelude lasted me about a day then I needed new pads and the rotors turned. They got so cooked the remaining pad looked like crumbling ash with a bit of steel wool binder.

If you track organics suck. But since there are so few people that actually track their Honda organics will be fine for you and the street.

I've experienced a lot higher ratio than 3:1 on my car.
