question about MTF/ATF

Default question about MTF/ATF

i did do a search couldnt find anything.

ok im gunna use royal purple tranny fluid. car is a manual (92) the rep at royal purple told me i needed to run max ATF. the helms manual dosent talk about running atf in manual. royal purple has max atf and syncromax. was he right? do i need to run the max atf? TIA

haha the rep is a moron, the MAX ATF is for automatic transmission, you need to use royal purple Gear oil 75w-90

ps, i cant believe a royal purple rep told you that.. it even says on the bottle for automatic transmissions only

umm actually on the bottle is says use with transmission requiring dexron III. and the lude is dexron II. see the syncromax is high 75w90 the helms says MTF calls for
"API Service Grade: SF or SG
SAE viscosity:
1 0 W - 3 0 o r 1 O W - 4 0" quoted from helms...

so i should be using the 75w90 gear oil? so go with max gear not syncromax or max atf?

edit: this is for lsd tranny i want the best RP app for this

any dexron II or III is a form of automatic transmission fluid..

dude, ive used royal purple probably before you owned ur lude.. i already told you exactly what u need to run, gear oil 75w - 90 (max gear)

what year prelude is it? i know on my 92 si the manual calls for 10w-30.

its a 92. the 10w30 is if u use engine oil. SF SG grade. but the other fluid the API it dosent say what weight fluid but they said go with 75w90 so thats what i ordered.

Use Castrol GTX 10w30 Motor Oil...Thats what I use in mine. I work at Valvoline and thats what I recommend to all MT Honda Owners.

you should use a 75w-90 gear oil by royal purple, im sure you will find the end result better than using conventional 10w30 engine oil

I did my LSD box a few weeks ago. I asked Honda and they said to use MTF over engine oil, your gearbox will thank you in the long run
