I am having a confounding problem with fluid foaming in the power steering of a 97' Prelude. I disconnected the pressure line while replacing the timing belt. When the line was re-installed, the fluid in the reservoir started foaming. I bled the system according the the manual(turn wheel side to side to push the air out) but it is as though air is leaking in. The system itself has no fluid leaks. I replaced the o-ring on the pressure line and then the reservoir to pump suction line but neither one has helped. The system worked perfectly before the pressure line was disconnected. Am I missing something.....Please help!!

Does your power steering work fine? If so, then theres really nothing to worry about

No. It is extremely noisy. The foaming fluid is affecting the steering performance, particularly at low rpms.

I've been having the same problem with my PS, the pump makes a "grinding" noise when steering at low RPMs... I also get a lot of foaming when it happens... can anyone help us?

I finally figured out what was wrong with my Power Steering. There was a large air bubble trapped in the system. This can or will occur if a power steering line is removed. I spoke with a tech at a local Honda dealership and he said that there is only one way to remove the trapped air. First, be sure the reservoir is full. Make sure the the fluid has settled down and is no longer foamed up and full of bubbles. With the engine off, turn the wheel all the way to the LEFT. Now start the car and let it run for a second. Slowly turn the wheel to the right. This should remove all air from the system. The fluid level in the reservoir will drop considerably as the fluid displaces the air pocket. Fill the reservoir up to the appropriate level. If this does not work the first time, try it again.
