Prelude not shifting into gear

Prelude not shifting into gear
I have a 96 Honda Prelude with a manual transmission. My prelude won't shift into gear from neutral. Changed the transmission fluid, checked the clutch fluid resevoir and filled it up and bleed out the air. I can shift the gears when the car is off. Checked the slave cylinder and it moves when I press on the clutch. Not sure what else it could be. Is it the Clutch itself?

Re: Prelude not shifting into gear
If the tabs on the pressure plate are broken it will cause this. IF you are 100% sure your hydraulic system is working and yet it will not go into gear the clutch is the next thing to check. If you can, take a look down the access port on the trans casing and you can take a look.

Well, cant be a broken clutch fork. Or bearing. So yeah, gotta be the fingers on the pressure plate are worn bad.
When the car is idling, and u put a little bit of pressure on the clutch, does it vibrate pretty good?

And to the OP
The "clutch itself" is just a friction disc. Sandwiched between a smooth flywheel and a pressure plate, with fingers inside that a slave cylinder-actuated bearing presses into to force release the disc, flywheel and plate.
I'd say u need to tear it apart and check it out. 4 hours one way for a first-timer. Not difficult. Just have to take ur time and be careful.

Re: Prelude not shifting into gear
Have a 2000 honda prelude we're purchasing with new clutch and all the corresponding cylinders. It now no longer goes into gear. Assuming the person bled lines correctly what other possibilities could be wrong?

Re: Prelude not shifting into gear
Not only should the installation be considered suspect, a "New Clutch" is sometimes code for "got the cheapest crap I could find on E-Bay so I could sell the car" and the parts could be junk. Test as AndyD stated above... if it goes into gear easily when the engine is NOT running, but will not go into gear when the engine IS running, and assuming that you have witnessed the clutch release arm move at least a half inch in and out when the clutch pedal is depressed to the floor and then fully released... then you have a clutch/flywheel/release bearing related issue and the transmission will have to be removed to see what's happening.
