yea, i read that....
no spark coming from coil to distributor (external coil i'm guessing, right?) so you put the coil from the old motor on the car??? so does this mean the dizzy was internal coil, and you put the old external coil on to test it? if so, i assume that also means that you removed the internal coil that was in the dizzy and rewired, as well as changed the cap to be able to get spark from the external.
sorry, what you have said up there is unclear, so until you are clear, its difficult to help you.
are you using internal or external coil distributor?
I want to help you because i want to eventually find out what your problem was so i will know for the future.

Re: prelude ignition help!!! (ChrisRicketts)
sorry i ddint know it was unclear
both ludes had an external coil i took orinal coil and orignal dizzy which both had spark berfore the motor was pulled
used orignal wire harness
i swapped out other coil no spark
cant use old dizzy its harness is different
no spark from either coil or the external coil
my mechanic told me is has to be the module if i am not getting a surging ground where do i find this module and how do i fix it also could it be anything else
bascially i need to find out what will cause me not to have a surging ground going to the coil?

Re: prelude ignition help!!! (dapaur)
let me make sure i understand....
you are using the same distributor, coil, wiring harness, and ecu as you were using on the previous engine, correct? plus, you've tried using the coil that came with the new engine.....???
Is all that correct?

Re: prelude ignition help!!! (dapaur)
If the harness was different at the dizzy then I am guessing one of the cars is a 96 and the other is a 92-95. In 96 they switched to OBD II computer system and relocated several sensors from the dizzy to the oil pump. So a 96 dizzy will have less wires going to it. Chances are you have a four pin plug on your engine harness hanging next to the back of the block on the drivers side. You need to run those four wires over to the dizzy and use the other one. You could hack up your harness to get the wires to the right place. Or I think password JDM sells a conversion harness.

Re: prelude ignition help!!! (SikB)
yes i have a 4 pin plug just went and looked and it was a 93 motor into 96 car
so now i use the 93 dizzy and run the 4 pin connector to the dizzy?
now can i just cut solder extend the wires?
and will this cause the coil not to have a ground?
and thank you very much

Re: prelude ignition help!!! (dapaur)
I don't think the coils are different inside but I would use the 93 coil if it worked just because I am ****. The four pin connector is a standard plug that is used for o2 sensors. If you have a spare harness lying around use it to make since you can crimp on to it while it is out of the car. If you have the old engine still around just cut the harness off of it. The wires come out at the bottom of the block and travel up the back corner in a loom to the plug. Either way you have to extend thses wires to the new dizzy where you will have to do further surgury on the harness. Refer to the second post in this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/650329 under "Poison's OBD1 ~> OBD2 distributor Diagram" to get your wiring straight. Alternatively I believe this product http://passwordjdm.com/Passwor....aspx would do the same thing while looking cleaner if you can wait for it to get to you.
