pocketrockets scamming me? (engine mysteriously suddenly arrived)
Hey.
Ordered a H22 tuned engine from PocketRockets Racing in March-April 2006 for a customer and thought that this would be great. They had a good reputation and were known to make good engines.
I was promised the engine in late August. And paid gladely 16.000 USD up front for the engine including shipping.
Then the problems began. At first PR postponed the delivery date. They blaimed the lack of parts. Fair enough since we got a new crankshaft on the order as a compensation. Further on, alot of excuses came flowing in on lack of time and more lack of parts so that the engine had to be postponed.
We managed to get a deal on him doing a basemap on the engine, since he had used so much time on the engine until now. Fair enough he said.
It has now gone passed the first delivery date by a year. And we cant reach Frank at pocketrockets anymore. Noone answers our mails. So, my question is. Have they taken our money and dissapeared? Have they gone bankrupt? Does anyone have any answers to me? Frank better be dead since he's not answering our mails.
16.000 USD is alot of money, and we havent seen neither our engine or a refund.
Does anyone live close to PocketRocketsracing.com and can pop in for a visit and ask wth is going on?
Cheers, Rack

You can see that we are pissed?
I believe that we have been patient enough by now. Either, someone finds out whats going on. He'd better lie sick with cancer or worse. Or the other option is that we rain down lawyers on him.

The main problem here is, that he has sendt us pictures of the building process. And he has claimed that the engine is buildt and ready for shipment. The main question must be that of, why doesnt he just ship the engine?
It all seems so easy, but still nothing gets done.
We're going to try calling him later on this day.

After browsing through multimap I think he's located in either Toronto or Ottawa?

Wait again I just want to be sure, you DO mean 1,600 or One thousand six hundred dollars, or Sixteen hundred dollars right? I surely for the the love of god hope you don't mean Sixteen thousand dollars or 16,000. For 16,000 you could have bought a near new 5th gen? Also I'm in Albany NY a couple of hours away from the border. If this isn't resolved soon if you want to pay for gas I'll gladly take a trip up there. Should be getting my lude back in a week or so. There are also quite a few other New Yorkers around, maybe they can take a trip. Regardless over a phucking year is ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS wait time for a motor. I would get my money back regardless if it is finished now and could be shipped just on sheer principle. Also where are you located?

we're located in Norway.
You could get a quart Fifth gen VTEC here for that
price. Maybe you could get a Fourth gen 2.3 for that price.
I still mean 16.000 USD. converted that makes approx 110.000 norwegian Crowns. roughly headcalculated. That makes Sixteen Thousand dollars. A engine like the one that he's promised us. Pro buildt in Norway would cost more than that over here. So this would be a real bargain for us if the engine ever got shipped.
Though, plus the import tax of 25% it could get to around the value of a Norwegian buildt engine. hehe. xD
As said, we're going to call the Fu#¤Tard later on today to try to resolve the matter. If nothing good comes out of it.
Its raining in Canada.

Re: (^RaCk^)
Damn d00d how much of that was going to be used for shipping do you know? Also what exactly is being done to this motor? I'd imagine I could probaly have someone build a motor for only 10K that would outperform it without even knowing it's specs starting with that RLZ manifold. Did he just say he'd build you a uber fast motor, or did you actually discuss the build etc. etc.

we've discussed the build all the way up to the point where we couldnt contact him no more.
The engine's a fully street/racing hybrid with 250-300WHP.
Dont know how much that are supposed to be for shipping. But if he'd stuck to his side of the deal, it wouldnt matter. We wanted the engine as fast as possible.
I cant really remember the build by head right now, but i know that not a single part in the engine's resembling original parts at all.

Naa, I'm not to familiar with them however with over a year freaking wait on a motor I think it's absolutely more than fair to be skeptical of their work. Regardless I was just wondering if he just gave them the motor and said make me fast y0, or if he had dialouge with them and discussed the particulars of the build which in this case the latter seems to be the case. You ever hear about that 250++ Endyn engine build a couple years back? Just wondering.

man im sorry, dont mean to add insult to injury, but i made 300 whp on a stock block! for 16 grand we could be breaking records, well up there anyway...
reguardless 1 year is way out of line. just contact lawers and police or what not, dont even bother going there or talking to them. let the lawyers settle it...

Re: (fastludeh22)
we're calling them later on, whatever happens after this evening (9 hours difference) is up to them. we're giving them a two day window to get a descent answer.
300NA WHP on a stock block? I find that hard to believe. Notice the (W for wheel)

Re: pocketrockets scamming me? (^RaCk^)
Yea.. He means 250-300WHP that's Streetable. That high of NA HP is crazy rare and to make it Streetable is also another thing. Now, I don't know if it would cost $16,000 for that, as I hope that includes the shipping cost...
But Pocket Rocket has much more expensive engines builds also.. Up into the $20,000++.
They build 2.5L H22's up to 2.7L H22's. For a 2.7L H22, you ARE going to EMPTY your bank account.
I've personally never heard of Pocket Rocket doing bad business.
When you've called them before, did you leave messages?? Or have you called before? What ways did you use to communicate with them?
I don't know how he can just "call the police" when he's in a completely different country.. On a completely different continent... Don't know how that would work..
But yea, don't bother calling the USA on 9/3 (Sept 3rd), it's Labor Day here so they probably won't be open.
