P0700 and P0740
the CEL light came on the other day. both involving the transmission. my cars a 2000 honda prelude with tiptronic(auto) the car has 86K miles on it. i noticed the shifts were somewhat lagging when it goes into D4. i also checked the trans fluid and noticed the color was not red, like all trans fluid are correct? it was a brownish/greenish disfiguration. im planning on getting a trans fluid and filter change, not a flush. but if that doesnt work, is the trans doomed or is it fixable? i searched but nothing came up under those DTCs. please help me
2000 prelude, all stock for now.

Re: P0700 and P0740 (fst100)
ok nothing came up in the search using tip tronic or tiptronic. all the results that came back are on swapping the auto to 5spd manuals

Re: P0700 and P0740 (fst100)
do more research.. tiptronics all blow up. regardless if its 97-98 or 99-01(slightly sturdier if i remember correctly) u can probably buy a used auto trans for a few hundred dollars. or u can spend it on auto to manual swap. in my opinion, tiptronics for preludes were too advanced for the times. all the kinks are just being worked out now like w/ the mercedez benz 7speed one or the SMG M3 and of course the acura lines are seeing improvements in tiptronic too..
take it to a mechanic and tell them about it.. they should give you a free quote/estimate and u take it from there.. the lifespan of a tiptronic range very far... from moderate 60k to like 160k.. from what i read it depends on how often u actually use the 1-5 gears... if u leave it in drive(auto) all the time.. i dont see the harm any more than other autos such as the accords.
good luck, sucks to hear
