Default no start after vacation....

so I just got back from vacation and one of the first things that I went to do was start up the lude, or so I thought.

the issue is.....when I turn the key, the dash lights up, I hear the fuel pump prime, and shut off (CEL light also shuts off) I press the clutch all the way in, and go to fire but.....nothin. No sound no cranking, just nothing.

I tried hooking up jumper cables, still nothing. Let the car sit on jumper cables with the other running for about 20 - 25 minutes, still nothing.

Anyone have any idea on where I should start to diagnose this issue?? Its difficult for me to check for spark using the screwdriver method alone (the wife is sleeping as it's close to 11PM here)

Any help would be appreciated, I need the car running Tuesday to get to work

Thanks in advance!!!

OK, so some more developments. I tested my starter for as much as I can. I checked that I am getting 12 volts to the small black/white signal wire to teh starter when i need it to be there. It is....when I turn the key to "start" there is 12 volts on there. I also tested that I am getting 12 volts to the starter from the fuse box (the big wire) and I am also getting that. I also listened to the starter, when 12 volts goes to the little black/white signal wire, the starter does click like a relay, but nothing happens.

I spoke with my father in law and he mentioned that I should take a look at my battery cables. He is saying that maybe my battery cables are so old/corroded that they are not letting enough current and amps through. And that might be the reason for the dash and dome lights, but not start, that it is letting enough current through to run those little things, but not the massive power eating starter.

My idea was to try to see if I can push start the car, that would (if I am correct) bypass both the starter and the battery for the most part.

any thoughts or other ideas??

I will check my coil, what would be the procedure for that??

as for the main relay, I would assume that is good because my fuel pump primes. From what I remember, if the main relay is bad, it wouldnt let my fuel pump prime, or am I wrong on this one?

Take the wife from your coil unplug from the dizzy cap same procedure as spark plug wires. Spark should be blue. And yes that's true about the relay but you have to take in consideration you hear it prime then shut off could be some short you never know

Ok im confused. You said the car doesnt crank at all right. Bad spark would not cause this. I would check the main relay, the starter, and the clutch safety switch. Ive had to jump the pins on my safety switch when it went bad, pretty much its like trying to start the car with the clutch out you will get no results whatsoever.

YAY it's fixed!!!! So I took father in law's first recommendation, went outside with a ratchet, some sockets and a rag. Went through where the power and ground wires attatch to something (ground on the tranny mount, ground from block to body, battery terminal and posts) and took my rag, cleaned them up, then she fired right up!! The battery posts and terminals seemed to be the worst so I am guessing that might of been the issue but at any rate, I will start replacing them, but for now, she runs.

Thanks again for everyone's help!!!
