OEM Oil Cooler Leak, Cooler or Gasket?
I've been having an issue with a consistent oil leak from my 93 Accord Ex...stock F series motor. Either way I figured I get more response from this forum considering most H22 are equipped with OEM oil coolers.
I replaced my oil cooler gasket/seal twice and I'm still dripping oil from that area. The gasket was replaced correctly, set in place, used honda bond, torqued to spec...
Have any of you had to replace the actual Oil Cooler unit itself because it was leaking rather than the gasket? (Btw, it's definately coming from the oil cooler area, not the oil pressure sending unit or the head gasket)

Re: OEM Oil Cooler Leak, Cooler or Gasket? (Nisif)
My H23A1 had a leak, and it was the oil cooler gasket that was the problem. I havent heard of an oil cooler leaking but i'm sure its possible. All i can suggest is degreasing the entire area so its absolutely clean, then slightly overfill your oil, just abit above the full mark on the dipstick: to increase oil pressure. Then with the vehicle safely supported, start the engine and watch closely to help pinpoint the exact place it is leaking from. Hope this helps, goodluck.

Re: OEM Oil Cooler Leak, Cooler or Gasket? (BlackCatt)
If its coming from the oil cooler area its pretty much leaking profusely and to boot its in a pain in the *** area....I've replaced that gasket behind the sandwhich plate many times.
1st i clean it down with brakeklean(fast drying) then throw some spray adhesive on the oem replacement gasket and set it in place then carefully while making sure the gasket doesn't move hold the plate against the block tightly and screw down the filter bolt...
I dont recommend using honda bond at all on that gasket, everytime i've seen gasket sealer on that plate it leaks.
