odb1 connector?? 93 prelude si
I cannot find find my odb1 connector that the scanner connects to. I can not find the three prong plug or the two prong plug for the paper clip jumper method. I have a cell I cannot read because of this. I did find a large connector taped to the wiring harness that good into the ecu. It is a long slender connector with a cap over the pins, inside the cap there is terminals but they does not go anywhere. I've looked about everywhere I could think of for it. I was looking for a blue connector but this creme colored connector is all I find while standing on head. 1993 honda prelude si (h23a1 engine) auto trans.

iirc, the 2-wire cell-check plug is behind the radio in the center of the dash....wayyy behind the radio and down...almost all the way at the carpet?? I think I remember poking it down and out from behind the side of the center dash around where the driver's right foot sits on the gas pedal..??

I'm not aware of an OBDI standard port on the prelude. Like mentioned above there is a diagnostic port, but it's a two wire, two prong plug. You just jump the two wires together with a wire or paperclip then turn the key on and your CEL flashes the codes.
It's blue and brown I believe. You have to unplug it from an empty socket. On drivers side under the console kinda by your feet.
It wasn't til 97 when OBDII standard ports were mandatory in all vehicles. OBDI ports weren't mandatory.

If you have a scanner from snap on you can get a pigtail harness that will connect to the 3 wire plug and pull codes without counting the blinks but your average person isn't going to have one of those.
Apex1972's idea wins, I'd do that if I didn't have an S300 already.

Yea definitely I will be wiring a switch to mine also. If i have one somewhere that is.... I know the connector is not located on the pass side or drivers side of my 93 si prelude, so I must look still and hope there is a connector behind the radio somewhere.

It is, there is a clip that holds the connector onto the bracket that the radio is held in with, sometimes you can just get a small mechanics mirror and reach behind there from the foot area and get it out if it's unclipped already.

there are two white connectors labeled Diagnostic, bolted to the fender walls inside the engine bay, right near the headlights, They are somewhere around a 12pin connector, one on each side. Dont know what kinda scanner you need but thats where they are.

Re: odb1 connector?? 93 prelude si
I am goin to do some work on the car this wed. I'm going to check behind the radio and hope it is there if not I will be checking the fender walls in the engine bay. I have never heard of it being up there but I guess it is very possible. I can't wait to see what the cell is that keeps throwing the light on. Thanks and I'll let yins know where I do find it.

Re: odb1 connector?? 93 prelude si
There is still no cell check connectors I can find on this car. There is a brown 4 pin connector and a long slender red connector taped to the wiring harness on the drivers side under the dash. There also is a creme colored connector (just like the red one) on the passengers side taped to the wiring harness going into the ecu. This is the stock harness that came on this 1993 Honda prelude si, h23a1, auto trans, p-14 ecu. Anyone ever had this model and problem. I've spent hours looking for a wire to jumper and get my unknown cell checked..........I have pics of the connectors ill try to post them shortly, I have them saved on my phone.

I have a 95 that is an h23 and was originally an automatic, and there are 2 blue plugs behind the radio. If you cannot find them, I would suggest taking the radio out and looking through the center console. When you find them, put them out where you can get to them later. I know its a bit extreme, but the radio comes out with like 8 screws for the plastic surround, then maybe 2 for the double din unit.

Re: odb1 connector?? 93 prelude si
You are exactly right again Mherkamp. They were there, deep behind the radio attached to a metal bracket down low behind the radio. Thanks again buddy!!!!!!!! There is a long slender plug on the wiring harness right before the ecu taped to the wiring, its a white connector. There also is a red connector just like the white one on the drivers side, right part of the floor taped to the wiring harness very near the gas pedal. Both of these plugs have pins inside the cap/covers that go nowhere both are the same style just different colors, different places. Both plugs have a cap/cover over the pinouts. Also FYI there is a plug for the abs under the front part of the passenger side seat, under the carpet the connector is attached to the floor ( its labeled abs). Anyone know what the white and red connectors are for? I would love to know!?
