Mounting STR fuel rail to stock Intake Manifold
In preparation for Nitrous, I am getting parts together, and want to get an STR fuel rail installed. At first, I thought the part I bought was wrong, then searched and found people talking about it needing work to fit, but they were all from 2003!
For those who have mounted this rail, does anyone have measurements of the spacers being cut, and/ or how the rail was attched to the mounting studs?
I am either going to delete EGR, or extand the fuel line to the drivers side of the rail, to solve that fitment issue.

Re: Mounting STR fuel rail to stock Intake Manifold
Well, I had to figure my situation out without much to go on, so I took some pictures, to share with anyone else that comes across this, and needs some ideas.
For starters, here are some pics of the extra ports on the rail, which I wanted for a nitrous fuel feed, and pressure sensor for remote gauge.
Before starting the install, I made an EGR delete plate, and bolted it up. Not as pretty as Rosko's, but it works.
When I took off the stock rail, and laid it side by side with the STR rail, you can see the height diifference. The injectors go into the bottom of the rail, and on the STR, the mounting holes are flush, while stock is raised up quite a bit.
To make the rail fit, you can either cut down the stock spacers, or make something else. For now I used washers to get the required height, but I have sourced an extra set of stock spacers to cut down and swap in place at some point.
You can also see that the body of the rail is very large, and between that and the length of the shouldered portion on the studs, something needs to be done to space the nut up from the rail on the top side. I found a pipe that fit well, and cut a few small lengths to do the trick.
One other issue I had seen mentioned, was the mounting holes for a stock FPR to be slightly shallow, so I used washers on each side, just in case. The vacuum hose from the FPR to IM. must be extended as well, so that line is not connected in the following pics.
The last issue I had, was the stock feed line not fitting well, so I switched it around from the fuel filter, and it fit decently.
Hopefully this helps anyone who buys one of these STR / BDL fuel rails and wants to use it on the stock manifold. Most of the threads I found on these were For Sale threads, but I knew the rail should work, and made it happen
Now for the 100 shot!

Nice man. I do want an aftermarket fuel rail seeing that I'm a tad over 200whp. Might pick up Rosko's.

I believe that Rosko's rail is a direct bolt on, and wouldn't need to do all this junk, as well as the AEM unit. This is what is needed for the STR / BDL rail, and possibly the Golden Eagle as well.

Nice write up!
I have the AEM, its a direct bolt on. I think the reason you want the STR rail is the nitrous ports?

Yep, but the AEM would have worked the same. I just went with the STR since my friend had it sitting in his garage, and it would have taken me a few weeks to get an AEM rail up here, and cost more.

Yeah, my rail and the AEM are the only ones that really bolt on, and if different spacers are required like with the RDX rail kits they are included as well. BDL/STR and most other aftermarket rails are flat on the bottom, deffinately easier to manufacture that way but I still dont understand why they do that. I bought a brand new BDL back in the day and it didnt come with spacers or anything, you would of had to do exactly what you did to get it installed which to me isnt acceptable.

Yeah if I had done 20 minutes of research, I would not have gone this route, but my buddy had it available, and I needed to get a good fuel setup for nitrous, and quickly. I knew it would work, so I put in the effort needed, and it has turned out fine. I was mainly frustrated that any info I found was 8 years old, with broken pic links.
