Default magnaflow high flow catalytic converter?

alright... my catalytic converter just melted and sealed itself shut so i need a new cat. i found a place that is going to install and magna flow high-flow cat for $100. i just wanted to know because i have other options.... how are these high flow cats?
any good as far as quality and performance?
there are other places that are more expensive that are using a "CatCo" high flow cat and a "Car Sound" high-flow cat. they are more expensive. another shop is charging $225 for the magnaflow installed so i figured $100 was pretty damn good.??
thanks

Magnaflow makes nice cats. In fact, they make Carsound cats too.

When you buy be sure to ask for a flat cat. It is a better choice if your car is lowered, atleast on my car.

Also, note that the cat you are going to buy most likely will NOT have flanges welded on it. You will need to have a shop do that for you. If the shop charging $225 includes the flanges AND welding, that's not too bad of a deal.

There are many different versions of cats that Magnaflow/Carsound sell, som eare dirt cheap and others aren't. Check out http://www.magnaflow.com to see wha tthey have available and find out what model they plan to use.

For a $100 installed (cat plus labor), you're probably gonna get a total hack-job on the install, and a lower-end model Magniflow cat...not worth the trouble imo.

Look into the SMSP bolt-on cats. For the extra money, you'll get a much better cat, with good welds, and you can install it yourself.

^ I understand your point but do some research to see how restrictive some hi flo cats can be.

thanks guys. i ended up getting the magna flow just because it was the closest and the cheapest and from what you guys say... its pretty descent. they managed to keep the stock flanges on it so that made me happy all for $100. i looked on the website and talked to them... it is just one of magnaflows universal ones.
