Light weight wheels VS Stock wheels.
Hey fellas, Im thinking about getting some 16 inch light wheels. Right now im looking at the 16 inch Rota Subzeros in black for my WDP Prelude. I might be able to get some for $415.
Here's my question, Since the subzero 16 inch rim weighs 14 lbs each, would it make a difference over stock Type SH wheels in handling or acceleration? and does anyone got any pics of preludes with these wheels? Do any of you guys have any other wheels in mind that seem like a good deal?

I don't have pics of it but yes, it will make a noticeable difference over the stock SH (19.7lb) rims. That's a savings of about 5 lbs PER corner of rotational mass.

Yeah it should make a nice bit of difference...it should be nicer to your struts, help braking, acceleration, steering feel, all that good stuff....Lighter suspension components are always a plus! Dont forget about tires, they are just as crucial since the tires are at the outtermost part of the wheel/tire assembly, so the tire weight has a huge roll as well when it comes to acceleration, braking, steering....

Toyo proxies 4's are a great light weight tire, with good traction in the dry and in the rain, also, they are only about $73 from the tire rack in the size 205/50/16 which is the closest to the stock total wheel/tire diameter (Stock: 23.9 205/50/16: 24.1). But yea with those rims, and some light, grippy tires to go along with them, you should feel improvement in pretty much every category.

Does anyone know a site that sells Rota subzeros for a good price? I just bought tires and I don't really want to spend another $500 on something I don't need. I almost bought the Toyo proxies 4 205-50-16-ZRs but I went with the 205-50-16-R Cooper Zeon ZXS, All the people from the tire place's where saying its more sticky than the proxies 4.
Im sorry for the bench racer question, but just to get an ideal on how much it'll drop my 1/4 mile time. How much do you think it'll drop it up? my car is pretty much stock. just guess...

The short answer: Yes. Every # of rotational mass you remove is roughly comprable to removing 4 # of weight else where on the car - it'll make a difference. I used Rotas as track wheels for over a year, and never had a problem, but like with any wheel, make sure to clean and inspect them carefully after every event.

I want performance rather than looks. Yes the 17s might fit the wheel well better but they will slow me down a little bit and plus I already have tires for 16s and 16 inch rims are cheaper.
Now all I gotta do is find a site that's selling subzeros for cheap. My GF is giving me $150 and my parents will pay the rest for the rims.

Sorry, but unless you get a 40 series profile, or lower, there's no way you're fitting a 225 XX 16 inch tire on a 5th gen prelude that's been lowered even minimally. I know, because I tried it; the front will clear (just barely), but the rear will not. I moved to a 15" wheel for this very reason.

I ran that size in the AZENIS for years and it worked great.
I tried moving to a 225 50 and , like I said above, it just wasn't to be.

Sorry but back to the .02 of a difference. Thats really not that much. Especially sacrificing cool looks for a not so cool rim. 17's are basically 3-4 pounds heavier than our stock alloys.
