Default How good of a compressor and impact wrench....

Thanks for reading. How good of a compressor and impact wrench do I need to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt? The reason I ask this is because I have 120 Psi compressor and a 250 Ft/Lbs impact wrench, and it won't budge.

Well the bolt is like at 180 Ft/lbs. May need a bigger compressor I hate to say.

I know alot of people who run into problems with that. Big breaker bar is key and get something to hold the crank in place.

That pulley bolt is about 180 lbs for the tourqe spec according to helms(I may be off a bit)

But if your trying to break the bolt off its actually on there upwards of 300 lbs.

So I got it off with a 275 ft/lbs impact wrench along with a 135 psi compressor. Plus some old fashion Denny's labor.

Just get a nice big Impact, my 600 ft lbs Ingersoll Rand zings them off with no hesitation, and I have a wussy lil 11 gallon 125 psi compressor at home.

I have a 600ftlb Ingersol Rand air impact gun and its awesome. But, I actually prefer and use my Snap On cordless electric impact gun. It works as good as my air tools, and it can be used anywhere considering its battery operated. 450ftlbs has yet to fail me and takes off tires faster than you can believe. Of course, it cost me a $1 a ftlb for it.
