If this is for a 4th gen, then here are the directions.

Remove shift ****. (If stock, pull down shift boot away from ****, then twist of ****)
Take off the screws on the center console(4 on driver's side, 4 on passenger's side, 2 above the stereo).
Carefully pull up center console and remove (You may have to move shifter)
Two screws hold the shift boot frame onto the center console, remove those.

You're gonna have to remove the staples that hold the boot on the frame, and then restaple your new boot onto the same frame. Then reverse the directions for install.

If it's for the 5th gen, it's the same thing. squeeze the sides of the shift **** where it meets the shift boot. Unscrew the ****. Remove the screws that hold the center console in place and flip it upside down. unscrew the shift boot frame plate and remove the staples. staple the new one on and then everything else is the opposite of removal.

When I did mine, the staples kept coming loose, so I ended up using pop rivets. 2 or 3 and it hasn't budged since

i just used needle nosed pliers to pull put and put back the original staples. i bent back the ends to secure it back onto the shift assembly. hasn't budged at all. you gotta make sure to give it enough slack or else 3rd and 4th will be a tight fit.

edit: i used a clamp to secure the top end of the shift boot directly under the shift **** so every last part counts in terms of length. i ended up having to readjust the shift boot to allow for more slack.
