help! dropped something into gas tank
I was on the phone with my ex, while trying to see if I can put lucas gas treatment into my tank without a funnel. I didn't notice a small plastic cap on the bottle tip and it fell down the filler neck when I pulled the bottle back!
I was wondering if it's ok to let it be or should I pull everything apart to get it out? Is the filler neck easily removed? I dont think it dropped into the tank its still in the filler neck

Exactly what fell down there?
When I've put Lucas into a car I just uncap it (bright green cap), peel the plastic/foil/paper seal off and then shove the bottle in like you're pumping gas. I never knew anyone used a funnel.

the plastic cap on top of the bottle fell in. Someone said the plastic might melt and clog my injectors or something

Yeah... I don't think I'd want such a large piece of debris in the tank. And in the filler neck it might cause issues with clogging.
If you remove the passenger rear wheel you might be able to see how you're going to remove the filler neck.

Re: help! dropped something into gas tank
its the small cap they put on top of bottles to cap them after you cut the tip off of the bottle... pennzoil syncromesh tranny fluid has the same kind of cap. it's small enough to where next time I fill up it'll be flushed into the gas tank.
I will be boosting this car soon so I'll tinker around and see if I can just take the fuel neck off. if not hope you guys are right and it doesnt melt

well its plastic.. so it'll float.. suppose you could try filling it to the top of the neck and see if it floats up (with a separate gas can). not sure if there's an anti-overfill valve on cars. just a thought.

Oh, so you're talking about the one quart bottles. If you grab one of the smaller one then you'll have a nice little pre-measured bottle that easily pours into the fuel filler btw.

if its a newer car it will have a screen in the neck of the gas tank which will prevent the plastic seal from actually getting into the tank. the screen is usually in there so someone cant siphon gas. if you were to get a vacuum cleaner with the attachment thing you could probably get a piece of hose from home depot and attach that to the vacuum and stick the other end of the hose in the tank and slide it down enough to the screen in the neck of the tank, which would get the piece of plastic out. personally i would just leave it in there. its probably never going to cause you a problem.

Re: help! dropped something into gas tank
i wouldn't worry about it.
but, if those caps really do float, just fill your gas tank all the way up to the mouth of your tank. it may just float all the way up
