H23 vtec piston to valve clearance help.
I need to know if using h22 pistons with h23 crank/rods with h22a4 head will cause valve issues. I know the pistons stick out by .018 and the oem head gasket is .026 but will the pistons smack valves? Its a stock head for now but I may change to skunk2 pro 2s in the future at some point but for now im leaving the head alone. I know youll all just say clay the motor but somebody has to have done this already and know what the clearances are. Ive searched everywhere and all i can find is "it works just clay the motor" well if everybody has to clay their motor then something doesnt work. I cant imagine everybody that has done this setup has been off by that far to where claying the motor needs to be done everytime.

I have built a few H motors... mostly H23V Blue Top motors... I run the H23A1 Rod and H22 Pistons...easyness and cheapness not needing custom piston pin moved up higher. I have had 2 motors at 500 whp turbo. I simply run piston out of hole and compensate with a 60k thick cometic head gasket. Somewhat OEM v2p clearance. Does take my 9-1 piston to 9.6-1.
I would talk to most doing NA builds and see what they say... I would think 25k be adequete clearance
