Default H22A4 turbo build.

Alright guys I'm kinda new to the whole honda scene. I'm wanting to do a turbo build pushing 8 pounds of boost. What are all the parts I need and upgrades that are required? Ate the ebay turbo kits any good or should I just stay away from those?

Do a search this has been cover a zillion times. We dont even know what size turbo you want on there like a T28 or a t3/t4 setup. Also you would need to upgrade the injectors and the fuel pump for safe measures, as well as a chipped obd1 ecu and a tuner who knows what they are doing. Also buying an ebay kit is not the greatest thing to do they are junk parts that just are not the best. Personally look into a well known brand kit and start there.

Indeed search is your friend. But stay away from the Chinese and eBay turbo kits. They don't last, need a lot of work to make fit and you spend more replacing parts in the long run. Find a decent H series/prelude turbo kit used on the forums or something is a good start. Also start looking into what you will use to tune, a chipped OBD 1 ECU will be your best option but which software? Are you on a tight budget? This will dictate lots of decisions as well as the fact of whether you can do your own instal fabrication work or will be paying someone to do it. To do things anywhere near correctly even with used parts and deals plan on spending Atleast $4,000 to get rolling. If you want brand new parts and whatnot then pretty much double that or more. Before spending any money also consider the vehicle itself, is the engine and drivetrain healthy enough to handle a boosted build? Does the engine have high mileage/abuse, smoke, burn oil, make noises etc? Does the trans shift tightly and hold all gears without grinds, does it make any noise, is your clutch and brakes/tires up to the task of handling the increaSed power or have any of those components seen better days? Adding boost and therefore power will make any small problem pronounce itself and speed up any beginning damage. Always needs to be considered as well if your new. There is a lot more to successfully turbocharging a factory normally aspirated vehicle than just slapping on a turbo kit and expecting it to work, you have to look at all the angles.

What are some good NA builds? I already have a chipped OBD1 ecu, Skunk2 intake and vtec solenoid, and full exhaust.

Once again budget will dictate what you want or need. . . If tight budget keep your H22 and add basic bolt-ons and obd1 tune. If not so tight a euro-R H22 swap with your bolt ons and tune would be better. We dont plan your build for you. Theres a million engine that have potential in this game you need to research and figure out what you want to do and figure your budget out.

What size exhaust? What header are you running? Is your tune an off the shelf basemap or is it custom file tuned for your specific vehicle? A GOOD header and exhaust vs just any aftermarket exhaust can be worth 15+whp and 10+wtq. Also, since you have the Sk2 Intake manifold, are you running a good 3" or larger intake pipe and large enough throttle body so as not to bottle neck? And as mentioned before, the tune. A well tuned engine like yours with good quality bolt ons can easily break 200whp. A lot more to be had with a set of cams and some head basic work. Budget dictates all lol.

Prime example for you, I just took a look at the power of a nice clean all motor Lude we had at the shop a few weeks ago. It was a 99, stock shortblock, BC Stage 2 NA cams, built stock port head (springs, retainers, etc.) Blox Intake, RMF drag header, Greddy catless exhaust and was tuned on A Hondata s300chipped P72.
Made 244whp/177wtq

block wise it was a totally stock motor: stock sleeves, rods, crank, with stock Type S Pistons. (11:1) The thing made power cleanly until like 8k-8500rpm and the tq was awesome.

Pretty sure that the only way to run that large of a turbo and retain PS will be a "sidewinder " style manifold. I would suggest looking at what Lovefab had to offer, maybe even just call them up and ask.
