h22a4 good deal ???
this is the info can get it for ithink $700
For sale is a Honda H22A4 Engine that is in good running condition.
Block and Head have 190k miles on them but it was well taken care of.
Was burning oil and from best we can tell is due to leaking valve stem seals.
Transmission is Automatic and needs to be rebuilt. It was slipping badly when removed.
Includes
- exhaust manifold in good shape
- Complete intake manifold
- Complete engine from Valve cover to oil pan ( except Harmonic Balancer, Crank position sensor, auto tensioner)
- Some JDM parts such as distributor, throttle body, oil pump, etc

Re: h22a4 good deal ???
If it was me personally, i would get the h22 setup and rebuild it while i ran the guts outa the f-motor. Build the h22 with alum and titanium. Build with lower compression piston setup, then boost the crap outa it for some big hp gains. But thats just me. Both of you methods are gona be relatively close priced the same. It all depends how you wanta build and what other problems you run into on the way. I like the h22 setup because now you got a motor to get you around and another to feed your desire to make big power.

How many miles does your current engine have? rebuilds can get expensive real fast if you want to use quality parts. If your main goal is simply good power, a turbo might be the best choice, depending on the f22's condition. Of course, you'll need to research more and decide for yourself which is the best for you personally.
If you PM people on youtube (not comment. you'll never get responds that way), a lot of them are more than willing to tell you what you want to know about their setups.

oh with that many miles, I'd definitely be against turboing without a rebuild! If you really do want an engine that has vtec, there are good h22 and h23a's for under $1500. Or if you still want to do a rebuild, be patient and a really good deal will come along. I once got an h22 that needed to be rebuilt for $150. I decided to sell it for the same price cause I didn't have the funds to rebuild it, just showing you that good deals do come along.
Swapping the engine is relatively easy. You need a driver side prelude mount, and the other engine will bolt right up. I use a p13 ecu, but people would argue that a p72 or p28 is better. I never used the other 2, but they work too according to other people.
As for the wiring, I'm pretty sure you need to switch to a vtec harness, but maybe you can modify your current one. Someone else will need to give you advice in that one, because I really can't help you there.

Re: h22a4 good deal ???
just get a h23a bluetop. got mine from jdmsource1 on ebay for 900 bucks came with 40k miles on it. Very good guys to deal with and excellent communication. highly recommended. they have a F20b listed at 999.99 but should give them a call to see if they have anything else. Oh and the engine was in such great shape all i did was replace gaskets. easy.
