I have a check engine light and I'm throwing code 43. I just swapped out the O2 sensor from my other h22 Prelude and it is still there. Next I'm going to do the fuel filter. Is there anything else it could be?

Really? Gas Cap? Hmm. You've had some good info and clearly aren't a jackass. I'll give that a try. Do you think that maybe there could be a build up of **** in the fuel lines? I'm not a fan of having to put that stuff in the tank. Would there be any way to clear it that way.

(Tomorrow I'm switching the FPR and pump) I'm switching the gas cap now though.

43 is a tricky code.

i get it from time to time and i know im running rich for some reason... check your grounds and make sure they are in good condition... im going to change my grounds for some 4gage wire in the coming weeks when i get some time

Doubt it's the fuel pump, they never go out.

Check the fuel pressure on it. Check the fuel filter out too.

OK well I feel I need to be a little more specific. I did change the fuel filter. Made a slight difference.

What happens is when I start off in first gear (but it happens in all gears) and say I floor it, it will crawl through the 2-3.5K range. After that it clears out and goes like normal. It smells like burning oil and it feels really hot. The way I see it is that I'm running lean. When I reset my ECU and then go drive, it runs pretty good but after a few minutes on of driving it does the crawl thing again. No I'm at a loss of words. At least I know it's in the fuel system. WOO!

It sounds exactly like you have to clean the egr ports in the manifold. It's an extremely common problem with H22's. The reason the problem is intermittent is that it happens only when the egr valve is operated. The 2-3.5k is the range in which everyone of us have experienced the problem. In that thread you posted a link to a M2B4 refers to a big glob over where the plug should be and he drills straight into it without the plug being there. Is there a way I can get those globs out of there? I have the same thing. What size is the diameter of the plug whole. Maybe I could just drill it straight out and replace with a plug. Hopefully it's fixable.

I'm having this same problem on my h22a. It's the p28 ecu I have...the fuel test circuitry is shot on the board. Basically the problem doesn't really exist but the p28 thinks it does...so the ECU is in limp mode(3500rpm rev limit). Car runs excellent other than that.

As for your code 43, it sounds as if it might actually be something wrong. Have you run a fuel pressure test? Have you checked impedance at all four injectors? Have you run any multi-meter tests at the resistor box? Could very well be something electrical.

Awesome. I changed the fuel filter. Drove the car for about twenty minutes. Turned it off, the started it up about an hour later, drove it home and went on vacation for a week. Not the damn thing won't start at all. I have spark, and it'll crank over and over again but no fuel. Would the fuel pump be causing this? Maybe that was why I was getting code 43 in the first place. Any input?


(Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed when you search here for "Have spark not getting fuel" and it searches "Spark Fuel?" )

Turn your key to the ON position, don't start the car. Check engine light should come on for 2 seconds, then shut off. During that same 2 seconds you should hear your fuel pump priming. It's a high pitched sound coming from the rear of the car, make sure you're in a quiet area in order to hear it.

If you don't hear it prime...check the thermostat housing ground first, then check your main relay and re-flow the solder joints if necessary.

Well. i turned it to the on position. Heard Something, pretty sure it was the fuel pump. Then it tried starting it, just because I wanted to be more pissed off, and BAM it started. I guess it fixed itself. huh.

Guess I'm back to square one. I haven't got the CEL in a while but my car is still doing the bog thing. How can I clean my EGR ports if there are globs over where I'm supposed to use the slide hammer?

the problem your having with it starting not starting sounds like the fuel pump is starting to go or it could be the fuel pump ground is loose

Okay. I'll look at the ground tomorrow. As for the code 43... I replaced the Fuel Pressure regulator today. Of course, it didn't fix the problem. I'm still looking for input on the globs for cleaning the EGR, but are there any other ideas other than that?

All four injectors are firing if that is what impedance tells you.

Well I got my hands on a skunk2 intake manifold. If it is an EGR problem i'll know here in a few days. Will the EGR block off screw things up even worse? I've been reading and I find both answers to this question. Is there a way around a CEL for the Skunk2 intake manifold? I can't find the finite answer anywhere. I searched and combed through a lot of threads. Any help or links are appreciated.

free bump. and have you checked the ground on the fuel pump? the srv had a bad ground, maybe similar problems. if not check fuses, and check this out incase it runs crappy once you get it getting fuel http://92lude.com/idle_air_control_bypass_mod.htm
