talk to 2point6, i remeber chating with him about how he had come up with a sick setup that would involve using a deck plate, some ford rods, a custom crank and taking out the balancer shafts and putting in reduculouly thick sleves and boring out like crazy

Yeap, he did his own at 2.44 liters because every setup he tried at 2.6 ended up breaking. Definitely talk to him

i was going to say, usiong a deck plate is the way to go w/this setup. if you want 2.6l, and dont go w/deck plate your going to have crazy stroke, and shitty r/s ratio.
w/the deck plate you can have the crazy stroke, AND have a better r/s then the h22 does.
and 91 mm is way pushing it...ive heard 89mm fi, 90 mm n/a is max...im dropping my 90mm fi h22 in there today so well see.

A deck plate and longer rod is going to do nothing about the outrageous piston speeds youll have with a 98+mm crank. All the deck plate will do is relieve a little of the immense side load youll have with a large stroke.

never said it would...but that little bit of side load is a lot...why do u think h23 spin bearing soo much...
and k-series use 99mm caranks, so it can be realiable...dont think 1 would fit in h-block, but making a comparison...

actually the deck plate and longer rod will reduce piston speeds across the top 180 by increasing the rod/stroke ratio which will reduce side load on cylinders and pressure on the bearings also, you absolutely need a deck plate and longer rod because if you did it with the stock deck height with the stroke at 97 mm that means you would have to use rods that are 138 mm which would leave you with a rod/stroke ratio of 1.42 which would let you rev to about 5500 before it blows? To acheive a rod/stroke ratio of 1.75 with a 97 mm crank you would need to deck the block + 32.05mm to utilize a 169.75 mm rod, by doing this you will also decrease the the cylinder wall to rod angle from 20.8ยบ to 16.6ยบ which will help your bearings and cylinder walls, and using the longer rod will decrease piston speeds along the 90ยบ approaching and leaving TDC from 28.750 m/s to 27.800 m/s@ 7500 rpm in the upper 90ยบ revolution. This will also increase cylinder pressure for a longer duration of time but it will also slightly decrease the vacuum on the intake cycle.

A deck plate and longer rods will reduce the affects of piston speeds and increase the dwell at TDC but WILL NOT decrease piston speeds.
Calculate it, rod length isnt even a factor when calculating piston speeds.
98mm and below cranks are do-able for a street/strip motor. Anything over that.. good luck, hope youve got money to spend.
Finding a head/cam/IM combo that will work and supply the amount of "breath" needed for something like that is a task in itself.
