Default H22 + Turbo. Good or Bad Idea?

There aren't many 2.2 DOHC VTEC motors running around with a turbo out there. I was just wondering why that is? Do people just prefer a B Series motor when it comes to turbo?

What are the pros and cons of a H22 Turbo?

Just wondering because I am looking at an EG with a H22 motor in there. Its going to be turbo and I want to know the H22 vs B18 comparisons. Thanks all!

people dont boost them because the stock piston ringlandings cant take the pressure that the boost makes.
Now you can get you block sleeved then run fordged pistons and run boost all day with no problem, but that cost money that why there might not be to many turbo h22's around you.

Yeah H22s are everywhere, but they don't seem to be the engine of choice when it comes to boost. Just curious as to why that is.

There are plenty of turbo h22's. but if you want to get an EG, I would go with the B18 and turbo that. It will be cheaper.

The ringlands on the stock pistons are not as strong as they should be and tend to buckle under high cylinder pressures. This is why tuning a turbo h22 motor is so vital to its life expectancy.

another reason is that you have to get the blocked sleeved in order to run forged pistons (with exception to Mahle).

Just make sure you do some good research before you boost it. You can make a boosted setup run like an n/a with the right amount of research and planning. Take for example my brothers 3000gt. The vr4s "stock" drive like any other car on the road. Fully spool at 1500rpms. If your going to run on stock internals, run about 8-9 max psi. Some people ran 10psi making well over 300whp on a stock block. Good luck
