Default H22 Euro-R Oil Pan Mystery solved

I ended up denting my oil pan since I am so low and what not so I decided I needed to replace it with an aftermarket one. I ordered a steel oil pan for a 92-96 Prelude Vtec model and it was to shallow where the oil pickup or sump was. I then did more research on it and found that Honda used a steel oil pan from the f23 engine on these euro-r engines. Just thought I would share the knowledge in case someone else out there needs to replace their oil pan. The steel oil pan was also used on the f20b and h23a vtec bluetop engines, the oem part number for the pan is 11200-PAA-A00

No this is the problem I was having the entire time my oil pan was leaking and I couldn't figure out if I really wanted to change out my pan or not. I still have to buy a longer header or custom make my own so there is no fitment issues. I have the h22a4 oem header on still and the damn thing is way to close to the oil pan so I will for sure need a longer downpipe or full header. I am still wondering what in the world makes the euro-r have an f23 oil pan because I tried using the one for the 92-96 prelude h22a model and it didnt come close to fitting right, did Honda use different parts like a different girdle something for sure sits lower on my euro-r engine.

Yup I like the extra 1/2"+ ground clearance... figured this hard way back in 08 with my blue top H23AV turbo crx. H23A uses F23 Oil Pan and Pickup which is lower to the ground. Need to swap pickup H22A and H22A Pan.....

MUST USE SAME PICKUP WITH PAN! My turbo motor never had a problem with oil but believe used H22A pickup and H23AV BT Pan.

Dammit where were you to tell me this ESP lol. I still have the header clearance issue with this f23 oil pan so should I just swap the h22a oil pickup on there so my header can clear the pan cleanly?

I am still curious to know why Honda put an f23 oil pickup and pan on an h22 engine in the first place. Should they of not used an h22 oil pickup and pan from the get go?

This was years ago... but I think the only height difference roughly 1/2" is on the box the pickup side. I don't beilieve there was a height difference where the downpipes go.

There is a difference where the downpipe goes and you are correct the box where the pickup goes is larger and has a bigger slope to it compared to the h22 oil pan. I still don't see why Honda used a different pan from an f23 engine really doesn't add up to me.

I still have my H23AV BT Oil Pan below is it pictured. Also measured my H22 on my car. I measured with a straight ruler from lowest point of the pans near the middle on each point.

Red I get 5 1/4" H22 4 7/8"
Yellow I get 3" H22 3"

I mocked up my turbo downpipe on my H23AVBT with the H23AVBT Oil Pan. I got it up as high as I can roughly 1/4" from Oil Pan. I then took motor out built it and put it back with the H22 Oil Pan and Pickup. I didn't notice any change in clearance of downpipe good or bad.

Only reason makes sense why the H23AV BT uses the F23A Oil Pan is it might be the only pan in the Accord Line Up durring 98-01 Years that would of worked. Easyness. Same goes with F20B and EuroR. Only other thing can think of is no Oil Squirters and maybe they thought an extra 1/2 quart of oil might be better...
