Yup. But I would wait until 1000-1500 before synthetic.

When I break one in, I change the oil at 250, 500, 1000, 1500.

For inital break-in use 30W, non-synthetic. Don't rev the engine over 3,500 during the first 200 miles. Change the oil and filter after 1,000 miles with either synthetic or non-synthetic. There's really no need to change the oil any sooner than the norm, the filter will catch all of the remaining debris like lint from rags, dust, ect. and the oil will degrade as normal, actually possibly a little better since there are no contaminants in the engine (old oil), if you cleaned the engine thoroughly of course.

from the old one
Endyn

Use a Honda engine oil filter ONLY!!!
Use a 30W, non-detergent, non-synthetic engine oil ONLY!!!
DO NOT take the engine over 3,500 RPM during the first 200 miles of operation. You can increase the maximum engine speed by 500 RPM for every additional 200 miles of operation.
DO NOT operate the engine in a "steady state" mode (no open-road driving).
Change the oil and filter after 1,000 miles of operation. Synthetic or non-synthetic engine oil can be used. We use, and recommend Mobil 1.
Use Honda engine oil filters ONLY!!!

Doesn't regular oil make some dirt in the engine? Or 1000miles is too short period to start makeng the dirt?
