engine immobilizer / key security chip sensor
For a 2001 Prelude base model:
50% of the time the car wouldn't start since the security chip inside the key cannot be sensed by the engine computer, so I get a flashing green light in the shape of a key. It's purely an electronic problem, as when it works, it works fine, and the engine never malfunctions after it starts.
I have read that this is a kown problem and is either a recall item or a TSB item.
But of course the dealer thinks it's neither a recall nor a TSB item.
Does anyone have details on the recall, or the TSB?
It would be very helpful for me.

Re: engine immobilizer / key security chip sensor (myhui)
yea, I have the same problem with mine. its a 98 base. 20% of the time, I try and start it, all the lights + radio come on but no crank. All I get is the green light flashing. According to the FSM, it says we need a new immobilizer control unit and keys to go with it. They need to install it and reprogram it to work in that car. Its about 500 bones to get it fixed. gheyness. The recall was on the ignition switch itself. The problem was that the high current flowing through the switch was frying it. Also, there was another one for the key being able to pull out while in Drive (for autos) My car was just in the dealer for the ball joint recall, and the two ignition recalls. I dont know if your year is affected or not. Join Honda owners link and it will tell you. Go to the Honda website and join up with your VIN and you are set.

Have you tried using just the key with nothing attached to it? Sometimes the metal from a key ring and other keys can cause interference with the sensor ring.

Re: engine immobilizer / key security chip sensor (Chiovnidca)
do u have an aftermarket alarm, with a 2way pager? or a motion sensor?.. these can cause interference, as stated above there is no recall on the immoblizer unit.
