Default EGR GURU's - I need help

93 vtec prelude - got egr block plate from kms, and it is too thick to put egr back on. So i remove all egr components and vacuum lines, cap them off and figure I can work around the CEL. Well, i read about people ohming out the egr wires, and having it work - No CEL. Well, i tried reconnecting my EGR components w/o connecting any vacuum lines (BOTH the EGR and the EGR check valves on the driver's side of the engine bay) and i got a CEL anyways. How the hell is ohming them out going to work because there will still be no vacuum lines connected? I reconnect them and still get a code 12 - egr. I want to keep that egr crap out of there, but don't want a CEL. I know that EGR isn't one of those CEL's that cause the car to run "rich" of "safe" as well, even though that may be mostly an obd2 thing. Any help is appreciated, as I've racked my brains searching on this topic. Thanks

Just get a thinner block plate. Why must you take the EGR stuff out?

As far as I know, any sensor that has to do with emissions (EGR included) will put the car in safe mode, but I may be mistaken.

oh, and getting a stand-alone is not an option right now either (they do not support egr)

except at full throttle, your egr valve opens and lets exhaust back into your intake manifold for emission reasons. EGR plate like the one pictured doesn't let the exhaust get to the intake manifold. Nocons if you leave all that crap connected - it won't throw a check engine light. I don't want that crap in my engine bay if I don't need it, and I've read that you can ohm out the egr wires, but no one is responding to this post with anything worthwhile.
