Default cleaning egr ports, or taking off manifold

hey whats up everyone I know the egr ports are covered on here over and over again, but i have a different question, we were thinking about it, since my car studders and shut off when I get on it, and than the CEL comes on with the P0401 code... well we took the egr valve and it's CAKED with carbon... so Instead of just doing the ports, we were thinking about taking the whole manifold off and cleaning it really good, what do you all think? I know it's more work than just screwing out the ports.... but I think cleaning it like that would be a whole lot better and more long lasting... any input?

a bump a little over an hour after posting isn't necessary...

well um yes cleaning the whole mani would be more beneficial than just cleaning out ports. yes it would last longer. you might even gain .5 whp you pretty much answered your own question.

theres apparently two ports on the block after the mani is off... what would be good to clean those? like is the same clears okay to use on the block?

rifle cleaning kit
pipe cleaning brushes
seafoam
(also a can of b12 my brother bought)
and some spray cans of carb cleaner
