Re: Car running to rich. Fixes?
i had this problem for awhile actually. my before o2 sensor was bad and i replaced that but still i had black spots on my rear bumper. i got mines for like $20. since that didn't fix the problem i went and got me a cat converter magnaflow from autozone for $160. i was in the process of replacing it but i broke a bolt connecting my cat converter to my catback pipe and said forget it, so i returned the cat converter....i figured i'll just go ahead and replace my valve stem seals and piston rings first because that is where the smoke is coming from. then, i'll go ahead and replace the cat converter.
LOL
Proven. Andrew, also if your computer is running a little slow, you probably need more RAM. I'll sell you some for $5000.

I work at Future Shop so I get everything at employee discount. I'm also the tech lead there so I think I know my stuff when it comes to electronics and computers.
Thanks for the offer.

Re: Car running to rich. Fixes?
No I got the point, and the dealer thing was a joke.
I've already gone ahead and ordered my O2 sensors Bosch branded. I've also ordered a Vibrant high-flow cat. I just don't like how you welcome a new person to a forum by making fun of him. Obviously I have taken all your opinions into consideration and I thank those that have helped out without having to put me down.
I understand that I might not know too much about how to fix vehicles but I do know how a forum runs since I am a moderator for many and I do know this is not how you treat someone new.
Thanks again for those who've helped.

Amazon.com sells the NTK sensors for less then $50 each
Since NTK is the OEM for Honda, the plugs and wire length are a direct fit.

I'm sure you're a wonderful moderator. Your style of searching nothing, ignoring all advice, and then reasking questions that have already been answered must go over really well.
New or not, your treatment is based on your actions/words. Stupid is stupid regardless of age or experience.

Ignoring this guy... ^^
I have Bosch O2 sensors in my Toyota 4runner and it's been fine for 5 years. Has anyone used Vibrant cat before? Or do most Prelude owners use the Magnaflow? Is the Magnaflow a high-flow cat?

Re: Car running to rich. Fixes?
I agree with everyone..... you came on the forum seeking for help and believe it or not there are a ton of people on this forum who know a ton about preludes or cars in general and love to help others... so dont post then bitch bout the advice you receive and give em a hard time.
Preludes run a little rich even when they are completely stock, so as they get older its only natural that it starts running more and more rich when parts need to be replaced. First thing i would do is replace the spark plugs (make sure to gap them to the correct gap and don't buy the cheapest ones) and the plug wires to ensure your getting proper spark to burn that fuel. You might even want to consider the distributor since that is the source of the spark. o2 sensor and catalytic converter. If after that you still think its running rich take it to a shop to have the air/fuel ratio checked and go from there.
Just remember if you have aftermarket exaust you will always have a little carbon buildup. If your car is actually smoking, then you are burning oil. But remember, light oil burning is normal on preludes. actually... i think its safe to say that for hondas in general =0.. my h22 with 30k miles burns about a quarter to half a quart of oil every oil change, or 3k miles (unless i take it to the track a couple of times LoL)
If you wanted to re-tune your car you would need to find an ecu that you can rechip such as the P28 ecu (check craigslist) usual rate is $100 Then take your car to a tuning shop. The usual rate to tune is around $450 but depends on what software they use. If they charge more go somewhere else. Usually re-tuning is for performance reasons but it definitely will make your stock car run much better and overall you should have gas mileage improvement. When i used to have my h23a and i re-tuned it with full exaust i gained about 5mpg average and noticeable hp.
