today i decided i would clean up my engine with some brake cleaner and when i did it i tried to avoid the electrical stuff as much as possible and didnt drive the car for atleast an hour after doing so

i drove about 4 miles and right when i coming up to my street i was in 2nd gear about 3200 rpms and i let off the gas the car kind of jerked and then started to slow down normally but kind of making sputter type noise but it was still running fine

then i was on the highway about another hour later cruising in 5th at about 3500 rpms at about half throttle it did the jerk kind of sputter thing again

if i give it more gas it goes away and if i give it less gas away

and it only does it around that rpm and when i hold it at half throttle in any gear around that rpm

any thoughts

Hmm. When my car started doing that, it was right before my TP Sensor quit on me. Next time you drive it, try cruising and then just step on it and if it bogs it's because the TP sensor isn't telling it where the Throttle Position is anymore.
Other than that, could be a lot of things making it do that.

If I stomp on it when it does that it doesn't bog it just quits and accelerates as normal? Idk I was kinda thinking tps too but I don't have any of the other symptoms

Hm. Check your IAC too. Might need to be cleaned. Could try and throw a Fuel System Cleaner through it too. Possibly some trash in your lines that's catchin when you're cruising.

If it was iac wouldn't I have erratic idle?

Usually, but if it's not clogged all that bad it could only react when more air is flowing. On the 3rd Prelude I had it made it idle too high, and when I'd get to a certain rpm the whole motor would freak out. Had to actually cut a piece of cardboard and semi clog mine for it to work right lol. It's probably not it, but it is possible.

Yeah its weird its really bugging me. I kinda think the brake cleaner f'd up the tps

I thought about that but it's only doing it at a certain RPM. When mine went out, it freaked no matter what I was doing. It would get up to a certain rpm and if it started to jerk, I could floor it and it was like no power at all. The car didn't move and the RPM's wouldn't go up either because the TPS wasn't sending the info it was supposed to. I would say if you have a buddy that has an extra one, swap it out and try it, see if it fixes the problem. I wouldn't go buy one just yet, cuz there's a lot of things that can cause that lil jerk and shiver at that low of an rpm and it go away when you speed up or slow down.

Are all Honda tps' the same?

B, H, and D series all have the same TPS. If yours hasn't been changed before it's going to have these lil tap screws cuz you're not supposed to get them off, but all you ahve to do is take the throttle off and get a pair of needle nose and clench down on it and it will twist out, then just replace those with 10mm bolts and it works just the same.
