Default burning oil and whinning timing belt sound...

Hey guys, I am currently burning a lot of oil. I actually just got back from honda where they performed the oil consumption test and in a 1000 miles its burned almost half of the amount of oil that was in there. I didn't drive the car hard because i wanted to see how it would hold up, but i did try to push it once after the 1000 miles, and it seemed to lose power at around 6500 rpm. There were no signs of a leak, so it's definitely internally. I know that one of the possibilities is that the head gasket is shot, but how would that be when the head was never removed and i haven't even hit 100K? I know h22's have a tendency of burning some oil when engaging in vtec, but I never really heard of this much of a problem. I believe the other is rings... but has anyone experienced this problem with this motor at under 100K? I am at 98K right now but have been having problems since around 91K... it jujst doesnt make sense. I honestly don't even get to push the car often cause i've always had something to do, honda made it seem like it was serious, so i didnt push the car for a while too.

also as i mentioned i just did my timing belt, but now my car sounds like i put in a piece of crap supercharger. It's starting to **** me off, one cause i know its not a supercharger lol and two cause the mechanic at Academy said its normal. Well i know its not, someone from a different honda said it probably has to be that the belt is the wrong size... I dont have a clue. Please if you know wat it could be pelase let me know. it would be much appreciated... thank out

when the belt is too tight it will whine.....

and there is no golden number that as soon as you hit 100k your head gasket is crap. There are a few ways to ruin it and one way is definately over heating but doesnt sound like your hg is bad more like your piston rings. Trade cars with someone and follow your car, see how much smoke exits the exhaust. Blue is oil, white is water/coolant, black is gas

Basically it sounds like its rebuild time

im hopin thats not the issue, but the mechanic at honda says that its not the rings cuz he ran a piston compression test, but he said it could be something more severe. I had one of my friends follow me and tell me what he saw smoke only at the change of gears and when i floored it. the thing is the smoke was darker, so im guessing its burning fuel, but then how is it that im going through so much oil? my friend is a mechanic and said it smelled more along the lines of fuel... but im just going nuts over the fact that im burning fuel, but oil as well. there were no signs of a leak, so im all confused... maybe injectors?

Sounds to me like you are leaking. I would think if you were burning that amount of oil you would see a blue smoke screen behind you all the time.

Here are some common leak areas.

Oil cooler o ring.
Cam plug.
Vtec solenoid gasket.

Those are some easy ones to rule out.

listen to slammin86, he knows whats up. totally took the words out of my mouth. oilcooler oring is the ultimate pos junk crap design flaw garbage. (rant) been there done that, sucks *** w/o hoist (ouch neck) oil leaking right on f'n pipe, flows like a river @ high rpm's. burns like a bitch...but...you will smell when you stop. timing belt whine is normal when you replace timing belts...too an extent....too much and preloads on bearings, etc ....well lets not go there. use your best judgement, or the judgement of a pro tech
