burning oil smell
I was driving my car around today and I smelled a burning smell from my car when I turned on my heater, so I pulled my car over and popped the hood. It smelled of burning oil of some sort. Before today though, I took a 500 mile plus trip in which I was going about 85 mph constant speed, but not exceeding 110 mph for the 7 hours or so that I drove(This was late at night, so no police or traffic, so please don't flame me for this). I am curious as to what would cause this smell though. I did an engine oil change about 800 miles before I made my trip, so the engine oil couldn't be that old. It's only 1300 miles on the engine oil ...but it smells like it has been over due for sometime. Should I just go change my engine oil, or could there be something else causing this smell? Thanks for the help in advance, and apologize for the newbie question!

Re: burning oil smell (95 Prelude SI)
well if you just had an oil change or somehting it is possible that maybe a drip here and a drip there is somewhere in the engine bay...adn when you drive for a while it will find its way to something hot and burn off...thats what happened to me but not from oil change ....or you can be leaking oil...have it checked out
