ANYONE ever hear of JASMA exhaust?...or JUN cam gears? also what to do with $150
There is a Jasma rear section off of a JDM Prelude that is going pretty cheap. Its got japanese writing on it and a JASMA tag. Just wanted to know if anyone knew of it. Also, I just got a tax return of $150....what should I get with that for my stock H23? What would be the best HP or effective mod? I was thinkin cam gears or CAI....Are JUN cam gears any good?

JASMA... Short for..
Japan Automotive Sports Muffler Association whom doesn't produce ANY headers or exhausts. They are only the agency that stamps it "approved" much like CARB approval.

a full na build is more $ then slapping on a turbo kit. if you have a fully built block and head and are running 30psi then that would probably be more than n/a. But going n/a will definetly become more expensive then buying a 3000 turbo kit

did you read what i said? if your going to slap a turbo on, usually people build it to some extent. i wouldnt just slap a turbo on a stock motor. yes, building n/a is expensive.... but if someone is serious about a turbo they will end up building the car to where a n/a builder would, AND THEN SLAP THE TURBO ON.

Excuse me if I may. I hear what you're saying, but what is trying to be impressed upon you is the comparison between the amount of money spent on a n/a setup creating "X" amount of horsepower, and the amount of money spent on a turbo setup (no internals) creating "X" amount of horsepower. This is the only way that the difference in cost can be attributed to one method of gaining horsepower rather than the other. A combination of the two methods proves to be useless in comparison of the two, for there are critical variables that must be held constant. Just thought I'd try to shed some insight into this debate. Furthermore, I'm drunk so excuse me if I'm wrong. Peace out

In the end, there's a LOT more hardware that has to be custom fabricated in a N/A application to produce good power than a FI application. For FI you don't care too much about engine geometry, balancing, and everything else internally but only to add stronger pistons, and rods and possibly up the valve size but you don't need to do much more than that. The rest is mostly fuel/ignition tuning and cranking up the boost.
N/A you've got a lot of stuff to attempt to work out. R/S ratio, crankshaft mods, balancing mods, and anything you can do with your grubby little hands to make that extra 2-3 hp. True, you can do the same with a turbo motor but would most people do it? Probably not...

Turbo's more! Look now... you buy a prelude for $15,000. 5th gen base let's say. Bang, NA for $15,000. Now you want turbo? Slap on another $4,000 for a base kit you install yourself. You're at $19,000. Turbo's more!

Re: ANYONE ever hear of JASMA exhaust?...or JUN cam gears? also what to do with $150 (H23A1LUDE)
for 150$ i would get a cold air intake, this should be one of your first mods. As for going N/A, you have a h23a which is much, much better as a turboed motor. If you had the H22a, then i would go with N/A. Cam gears wont do you much good on a stock motor. All cam gears allow you to do is adjust your valve timing, and since you dont have Vtec, this wouldnt help you very much. You wont want to do cam gears until you have at least some basics, I/E/H....and some kind of Engine Management system. As for the cost of N/A vs Turbo.......N/A is way more expensive for the serious racer. N/A racers go to extreme lengths to get 1 or 2 hp more out of their engine. Peace

maybe since you quoted the first person who said it it seemed a little confusing. since no one did mention it before him and he thinks you are saying he repeated it, which it does seem like. but really jdm lude repeated it, and realized his mistake and edited it.

hey elkins, doesnt your thoughts on n/a and turbo, kind of have a conflict with eachother, since your saying that most people would build a healthy motor before they turbo it, yet you advised H23A1LUDE to save up another 2850$ for his turbo, when he already stated his car was completely stock ?
anyway, yall argue too much, enough of this thread,
H23A1LUDE id go with cold air . . . just my personal opinion . . .
