Default alternator belt

I just noticed recently that my belt is screaching at start up so I took a look and found that there is no adjusting locknut or adjusting bolt. I called my mechanic and said I don't need them. Is this true he said to just pry it and tighten the through bolt, but wouldn't I need to atleast have the adjusting locknut?

Ehhhh...you adjust it with the adjustment bolt like in your pic. Loosen the other bolts and tighten the belt up with that adjusting bolt and then tighten the other bolts to hold the tension.

I would, but there isn't even an adjusting bolt or locknut there and I've been driving it for about a year like that I think. Is it even possible for the belt to not fall off without those? Also when I looked at the pully above it, it seems as though the alternator belt is rubbing on it alot as it is glazed. Input...

Did you not read what he said before you asshat? He said: <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by lude1888 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I would, but there isn't even an adjusting bolt or locknut there </TD></TR></TABLE> and he asked for help not a stupid answer that you gave him.

I really dont know that it is possible to drive around with that bolt not being there without the belt just working its way off. Check on a honda site to see a detailed parts diagram to see if you are just over looking it or if you really dont have it. If you dont have it, order it and then tighten like the diagram you posted discribes.

That was a douchebag thing to say as well...There was no need to even post this due to the fact that it has absolutely nothing to do with ANYTHING. I'm pretty sure you and sleepyh22 can get together and one of you will know how to stick the ***** up your butt...hell you both can take turns. You all have nothing good to offer to this site so just leave!

Take a pic of your alternator and post it.

If you need the adjustment part, let me know. I think I have a spare.
