Also we traced wires from ecu to obd2a to obd1 conversion harness all the way to the cyp sensor and its all correct. Some people say sometimes 2 wires were accidentally switched in conversion harness, but we verified they were right.

Mine is a 98 Prelude base model manual transmission with a jdm h22a euro-r swap. I swapped over my oil pump with the crank sensor as well as the distributor from my h22a4 engine. I have a p28 with a rywire obd2a-obd1 jumper. Are you positive that you have a good working condition distributor? For sure sounds like the crank sensor is bad in yours so replacing it is the right idea. Have you opened up your dizzy to inspect it for broken or loose wiring?

yup. multimetered all wires from both cyp and tdc sensors at bottom of oil pump up to distributor and to ecu and they all correct. Even looked up online to make sure manufacturer of obd2a to obd1 conversion harness didnt get anything wrong but they all correct. Maybe it has something to do with atts in sh's only. but many many online forums there are hundreds of people that have had this problem. your td77u is it external coil or internal coil? mine is external. i dont think they made a internal one though. if there was it probably would be td76u but there isnt one. i know the td61u i bought from amazon is external there is also a td60u which is internal coil.

It has to be something with the wiring or the actual sensor itself, also have you checked your mechanical timing on the t-belt to make sure its dead on? Maybe its off by a little bit enough to throw the sensor off in turn causing your CEL code 9.

nah Timing is dead on. It purrs with stock ecu. I have high profile pistons so i cant be off or im gonna damage valves bad. both cyp and tdc sensors are brand new. Distributor does adjust but obd2a ecu automatically adjusts timing and spark. Besides I loosened distributor while running and played with it while running with obd1 ecu and it didnt change anything. And on top of that it doesnt throw any codes while running on obd2a ecu and I drive 100 miles a day to and from work, and have been for 3 weeks now. Runs fine just dont have much power because it needs more fuel. If I cant get this obd1 ecu to work, I may just end up getting a manual air fuel ratio adjuster directed right into fuel rail, if thats even possible. even when vtech enagages it actually loses power because it needs that fuel.

No matter what ecu you run whether it be obd2 or obd1 you still have to jump the blue service connector down by the obd2 scanner port and then adjust the dizzy to where you want your timing to be, then shut off the car and pull the paperclip out of the blue service connector. An air/fuel ratio gauge or wideband o2 sensor connects into your exhaust not the fuel rail or are you referring to an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? That connects directly to your fuel rail.

Yeah adjustable fuel pressure regulator but not going that far yet. Ive tried timing light the dizzy with the p28 hooked up but still not working and i know about blue service connector. its the cel 9 code. there are thousands of posts on this problem but no soultions. after reading like 30-40 posts i found one where they switched to obd1 dizzy and it worked. so thats why im trying it. no biggie dizzy only 70 bucks. thats pocket change.

So it worked.
I got obd1 td61u distributor and switced it out and conversion harness from rywire and i no longer have cel9 or 500 rpm rough idle. However I have a new problem. The idle jumps between 700 and 1100 rpms and back down. Also i took it for a drive and it had no power at all, not sure if its running to rich or what. Its not throwing any codes but its running bad. I put a timing light on it and it seems to be close. i turned dizzy as far as i could counterclockwise but it didnt seem like it was enough. It did help a little but not enough. Any ideas people.

Is this with the obd1 chipped ecu? Sounds like you need to check your TPS make sure its properly calibrated and possibly the wrong basemap for your setup.
