96 prelude si limp mode
Hi all I barely post anything cause I mostly try to research before bother someone else but I can't find exact info on how to fix this issue. I will start with saying that I bought this car for 1600 knowing that I would need to rebuilt or swap (wich i should have) the engine. Anyway here is the list of everything we did. First before we started rebuilding the timing belt broke with that been said I bought:
Rebuilt crankshaft with bearings
Oil pump
Piston rings(from a set of forge pistons)
16 valves
Valve seals
And a gasket set
Timing belt
Water pump
Timing components
Full exhaust with header 2 inch pipe with a 3.5 exit
Air intake with a kn filter
And we start the rebuilt but in the rode we found out that the balance shafts were completely bad so add a BSR kit. So finally did all the work between real work and free time took me close to 3 weeks to get all done and Installed in the car. When I crank it up I was very happy no issues were found but when I started to drive it found out it was on limp mode don't go over 3k rpm.
Scan it and pull o2 sensor and p0335 crankshaft position sensor. Check for grounds and broken sensor and nothing all good. I proceed to get a new CPS as soon as I installed it throw in a p1362 TDC code and still on limp mode. I don't know what else to look into I'm getting a distributor tomorrow to see if that fix it. Any other help would be much appreciated.

Re: 96 prelude si limp mode
The crank sensor assembly has two sensors, the crank sensor and the top dead sensor. Both sensors read off of pulley's, the crank sensor off the crank timing pulley and the top dead sensor off of the front balance shaft. The pulleys need to be clean to allow the reading of the sensors. It's entirely possible the connector is not plugged in all the way or that somehow the wires got pulled out of the connector or broke off somewhere inside the plastic sheathing.
What you may need to do after physically checking the connectors and wiring for problems is testing for continuity from the connectors back to the corresponding pins at the ecu connectors. Wiggling the wiring while using the "beep" continuity mode you can see if you can find the open.
The distributor doesn't contain these sensors.
