do the knock sensors ever really go bad?? we just picked up this lude and its throwing the infamous ks code. before the bashing starts ive searched, read on alldata and rewired it to pin d3, with no luck.the ecu is a p13 that was chipped about 5 years ago. i opend it up, its upside down in the case, and has a resistor that looks oddly huge and radioshack like in it. im starting to think its the ecu.any input would be great, this is my first prelude, first h22, and first ks issue ive ddealt with thanks

the only time i've ever seen them malfunction is when the rot out and break. they pull everything including the guts out. it is not common to fault when not broken, because it is a peizoelectric crystal inside and that is what sends the electrical signal. you can check this by pulling it out and tapping it, or tapping the intake manifold or block lightly with hammer, and check for the ignition timing to retard.

thats some good info...ya im pretty conviced that its wiring/ecu problems, not the actual sensor..thanks dude..

chipped P13's tend to have problems. It might be the ecu. Get a chipped p28 and u wont have to worry about knock.

ya im starting to learn that a chipped p13 is funky ****(its like the only ecu that xenocron wont mess with..gonna hit up ebay for a chipped p28 with a stock h22 map with ks disabled...thanks
