Default 5th Gen SH Strange Electrical or Immobilizer Problems?

having an issue with the car randomly shutting off (sometimes on idle/sometimes when driving) with the green key light flashing, also getting random dash lights coming on from day to day (either ATTS or the parking brake light) for no reason. it has shut off four times now while driving, when i try to start the car back up right away the entire dash flickers like crazy and makes almost like a clicking sound, the engine will fire and i can get the revs up but then it just dies again, yet i wait maybe 30 seconds and the car fires up fine and drives normally. as you can probably tell it's very nerve-wrecking as it happens randomly, anyone have anything similar happen? hoping to get to the bottom of it (thinking it could be electrical/ignition related?) the only thing recently replaced was the EGR valve, i thought that had fixed it but now two weeks later it shut off again...

It's possible your ignition cylinder is worn out. Do u have a lot of keys and keychains hanging off the car key? Or if your lucky it's just the ignition harness behind the cylinder that's faulty... I would try that. But before you should check all your grounds in the engine bay. Check the ground wires for corrosion and clean them. Certain ground wires can also be replaced. Check battery terminals. Also could be a main relay under dash driver side... lots of possibilities

I had a similar issue:

My rotor inside the distributor cap wasn't fastened on correctly, and the screw had come loose... this screw was apparently causing a short in the distributor or smacking the ICM. Check under the dizzy cap.

Check to make sure that your reverse light wire on the tranny isn't shorted. They come undone and will ground out on the tranny, shorting the whole thing out.

The ignition switch is a massive weak spot in these cars and causes all kinds of issues.

Finally, check your grounds. Also, may want to especially check your ECU grounds, as my ECU just decided to not power my car in the cold weather...

thanks for the replies, i will definitely go through and check all grounds, the strange thing is it never happens on shorter trips (to work for instance) only when i'm driving longer distances and when it's been idling a lot, but maybe that's just dumb luck.
