Default tach jumping and car sputtering sometimes...need help fast!

The problem started with just the tach jumping a little bit sometimes. Now after the car is heated up it starts jumping drastically and sometimes the car sputters and the steering is kinda squirely when it does this. It is really annoying and it has me kinda shook up because I know pretty much nothing about cars and I only got it 2 weeks ago and I love the car. I took it to autozone when I was getting some other products and the diagnostic gave me code P1297(injector high sides shorted together). They said the check engine light should be on but it isn't, the srs light does stay on a little longer than all the others, I don't think this has anything to do with this problem though. The honda specific code seems to be "Electrical load detector circuit low input". I read up on it before I even went to autozone and it seemed to be most people just crimped the connections to the ignitor and it fixed their problem. I did this and it didn't help, maybe I didn't crimp them tight enough but I think I did. I really wanna get this fixed asap and I won't even be able to schedule an appt at the honda dealership until monday morning so any info would be great. Thanks in advance...

It could very well be the the actual ignitor is going out, sounds like it if the tach is jumping and sputtering/misfiring at the same time. If u have a friend with another dizzy try putting his on and see if that fixes the problem, more than likely it's your ignitor, try borrowing one first and see if that fixes the problem, thats the most likely cause of ur problem, the eld justs detects the load on the car, depending on what all ur running at the time the alternator will charge the battery at a different rate, it shouldn't affect the car too much though, idle might be slightly jumpy/surging but I think that's about it.

That was what I was thinking about but I don't have any friends with a prelude or are ignitors pretty interchangeable? I really think, and hope, it's just something simple inside the dizzy. So how much is a new ignitor and where can I buy one if it is the problem?

New ignitors are like $80 I here. I here that almost all ignitors from hondas are interchangeable, I've used one from my old b18b ls motor and it worked fine, u could even probly try one from a civic's if u got a friend with one. If u need to buy one though u could try here on h-t, ebay, or a local shop, or the honda dealership if u really want to, just make sure it's OEM, I here that autozone places that sell honda ignition stuff is complete crap, but getting an oem one from honda is ganna be spendy, so try to find an oem one somewhere else but not over $100.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Also when the car starts sputtering or whatever it's doing it seems like the wheel jerks, might be powersteering or something?

if the motor is cutting out, the powersteering is probably losing pressure, which would cause the jerks

Would the ignitor be causing all of these problems or could it be multiple problems? I'm a noob to honda and cars in general sorry.

So I took it to the honda dealership and they said there is a recall on the ignition switch or something. Would that be causing my problem?
