With about 7,000 what would be the best thing to make the 5th generation prelude fast??? But with a daily driven car.
What makes this car soo freaking heavy ???

I'd go JRSC and spend the rest of the money on the many parts that can help accomodate the JRSC. Also can't forget dyno tuning time to finish it all off.

7k is a LOT for a setup.

If you think it's too heavy, gut the fat ***.

Turbo and build the motor. Also invest in an lsd if you have any money leftover.

Are you serious??? The H22 has 195-200hp, more torque and it fits!!! To make the b18c5 fit you have to make custom mounts, pain in the ***. Honestly the money is not worth the effort for a motor that is only slightly lighter.

Depends on alot of things, how much you boost, fuel management, ect....
Resleeving the block - roughly 1000
Pistons- up to 500
Rods- Eagle 360-400 Crower 600-700
These are just the basics, you can still upgrade injectors, the head p&p, standalone.... It all comes down to what brands you want to use.

With my motor i have 9.1 compression JE pistons, waiting to get Eagle rods, in the process of resleeving the block. That's just to get it running! Within the next couple of months I want to get bigger injectors, standalone, p&p the head with valve springs and retainers, and maybe a set of cams.

So the question is how extreme you want to go and how much your willing to spend on the motor and still having enough for the turbo. Anyways good luck in your quest for a turbo beast!

please tell me you're kidding, cause if you're not kidding then you're smoking some good ****! is it logical AT ALL to swap out an H22 motor for a B18C motor?
hp isn't everything my friend, and i'm gonna speak like a domestic owner now and you can quote me on this: THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT. period. what good is a B18C engine in a prelude? none. why? NO TORQUE! H22 has enough of it haul a heavy prelude around, but B18C doesnt. a prelude with a B18C would run like civic DX. that's like domestic guys diching V8's for V6's. doesn't make any sense. look at it this way: you have 2 same cars, same weight, same everything. both have no motors and they're ready for a swap.
in one car you drop in a B18C and in the other an H22. the car with that H22 would be faster. no ifs, buts, maybes, and ors. ok? if you have any other questions, i'll gladly explain.
as for the $7K and making a lude fast... you have many choices. BUT, it depends on how fast you want to go, how reliable you want it to be, how driveable you want it, what maintanance costs are you willing to deal with, etc etc.
IMO the best thing to do would be boost, and building your motor so you can boost safely (rods, bearings, pistons, etc). you also gotta keep in mind the fuel management, drive train, cooling, etc.
you can build a bomb *** all motor prelude for $7K. BUT it will still not be as fast as a boosted prelude with say, built bottom at 13-16lbs of boost. then, reliability comes up. do you really want a beefed up motor like that for your daily driver? is that $7K gonna make realiable as well as fast? maybe. maybe not.
what it comes down to my friend is this:
FAST. RELIABLE. CHEAP. pick two. so you take a pick and go from there.

I'll never understand why so many people say this... If you compare it to sub-compact Hondas (e.g. Civic, Integra), then yes, it weighs a good 300 lbs more. But
it still has a better power to weight ratio than any Civic/Integra, save the Interga TypeR...

If light weight is your primary criteria for buying a car, get a Celica GTS...

Fast for what? Drag racing? It will aways be a poor choice if you want to drag race...

I'm convinced that the 5th gen Prelude is one of the best cars to build for SCCA Solo II STS class. So to that end I would do:
15x7.5" +48mm forged wheels - $1600
225/50/15 BFG G-Force t/a KD or Bridgestone PP S-03 - $700
Koni Sport adjustable dampers - $550
Ground Control Coilover sleaves (450f/325r) - $340
Mugen Header - $1000
Mugen Cat-back -$1000
Apexi V-AFC - $320
AEM CAI - $225
Neuspeed upper front tower bar - $140
ST rear swaybar - $200
AEM Underdrive accessory pulleys - $150

Total = $6225 if you buy everything new. And you will have one of the most powerful, best-handling cars allowed in STS.
