5g JDM ecu pin-out
I understand the plugs are the same as obd2a even though those motors are considered 'obd1.' So..
-Is the pin-out the same, ie. everything in the same spots as usdm 5g minus pins for the usdm emissions equipment? Or are there other differences?
-Using the obd2/usdm engine harness (obd2 ckp/sensors at the oil pump), will the ecu harness need to be modified for the jdm ecu to pick-up those signals (assuming the rest of the pin-outs are the same) or is the harness wiring the same (only the physical location of those sensors is different)?

I'd be surprised if it's different since the same sensors....is this a JDM OBD2A Prelude motor? The JDM Accords went OBD2B and those start to get different.

Re: 5g JDM ecu pin-out
I'm considering a Type-S swap, but we have emissions checks every year so I need to use usdm obd2 ecu once a year. This is what I plan on doing, I think it should work fine, any thoughts?
-JDM Type-S engine
-JDM ecu
-USDM 5g engine harness
-USDM disributor
-USDM oil pump+ sensors

Re: 5g JDM ecu pin-out
you should just change the engine, and use your same ecu, the emissions equipment should be the same iirc just egr and cat. and the usdm ecu could easily support the extra 20 horses

'support' extra 20 horses huh...not quite.
The USDM ecu isn't going to account for the ignition timing differences between 10:1 and 11:1 difference, or the timing requirements of the Type-S cams. Emissions equipment isn't even close to the same, lots of extra stuff in north american vehicles. The usdm ecu will be used once a year when emissions test comes around.
