I've seen silhouette shots of the H-2 and mentions that it will be nipping at the S1000RRs heels. The overall shape of the silhouettes looks really nice, so I'm doubting it'll come to fruition unless I'm missing something because when the Japanese produce a bike that takes crown as fastest production bike, they tend to make it the ugliest production bike as well.

Kawasaki's been there done that before...

forced induction scooters for the less than initiated rider that want's marketing and media "buzz".

the original TC Z1-R KZ1000 was a BEAST... pulling 10.9 quarters in 1980 on bias ply tires with no other modifications.... the GPZ was a decent bike, but fairly heavy and not really an all out performer as promised.

The old turbo bikes from the 80's are a COMPLETELY different animal from this. That is like comparing an R35 GTR engine to the turbo 4 in the Omni GLH.

Comparing a decades old scooter to a next century current release... thats your reassessment?

LOL what? You're the one who was trying to say "lulz the tubro bike was slow compared to the NA bike 35 years ago, so that will obviously be the case today."

You can't draw conclusions about modern forced induction based on the efforts of over three decades prior. Pointing out that the Pontiac 301 Turbo was pretty lame in the 80's doesn't have any bearing on the performance of the R35 GTR.

Some leaked pics show some very serious hardware and a race-spec version with slicks, carbon fairings, and no lights.

Track days only most likely. Although its possible this may sell well enough to generate its own club racing class, who knows.

More details released. The H2R will have a crazy 300 hp. It appears numbers for the standard H2 wont be released for another month.

-lulz.

-it won't.

-after further review, that frame looks like the weak link for any-sort of motorsport involving turning. the bike is dependent on aero, which doesn't work at slower speeds. probably over 500lbs wet, its WIDE and from the awful link you posted:

Think of it as the Kawasaki's version of the Ducati Desmosedici

IIRC, the Desmosedici RR didn't have a class it could race in either. Its based on ZX10R drivetrain parts and that bike is about 430 wet. Anything is possible I suppose, but I honestly don't see 70+ pounds worth of extras.

Edit: just looked at the pics again and don't see this epic wideness you are talking about. Looks a lot like the rest of the 1000 cc 4cyl Japanese competition to me.

-the D16RR was a limited-edition "replica" based off their championship-winning MotoGP racebike. If you knocked off the lights/mirrors...it was eligible to race in MotoGP prior to 2007.

-as for the weight, that superchager and ancillaries are good for 30lbs(mounted up high), that frame is steel, those BPF forks look 50mm plus, those aero bits intergrated into the bodywork...it adds up.

-for an engineering experiment, its cool. marketing and media-buzz were already mentioned.

None of the Desmosedici RR's were delivered to customers until 2008, so no it would not have been eligible to race.

You have absolutely no idea what this supercharger system weighs so quoting a figure like 30 pounds is ridiculous, especially when most large automotive turbos don't even weigh that much. The Desmosedici RR also had a large part of its frame made of tubular steel. Those aero bits are carbon fiber, and it is also missing other bodywork. Again, I don't see 70+ pounds here, not even close.

LOL, even after all these years you are still the official Negative Nancy of this board

-put it this way, I'm more right than you are. I agree that customers didn't receive their bikes till 2008, but the bike was eligible before the motor size increase of 2007. yes, it was eligible to race....if you had a time machine. you missed my point.

-as for weight, the H2 weighs 230Kgs wet...do the maths.

In other words no, it was not eligible. What is your point, that an owner could brag "I could race it if I had a time machine?" You missed MY point, they are both trackday toys. If it has a VIN number, then it will be a street toy after people put lights on it

No weight figures have been released, so I'm not sure whose *** you pulled that number from.

Hey Nancy, thats the standard H2. You were making claims about the R, which is considerably less than that.

The weight for the standard H2 is rather disappointing though. They should have been able to make it much lighter if they wanted to, supercharger and trellis frame notwithstanding. I'm sure it will still be fast around a track, but not as fast as it could be.
