honda varderoi 125 electrical timing, help, !
hi, I am having big problems trying to start the bike, it seems the electrical timing is out, the engine timing is bang on, I have good compression, good spark fuel getting through a nice clean carb, but it doesn't want to fire up and sometimes backfires a bit through the carb. ive changed the ecm, changed the coils, plugs ,ht leads and caps, ive changed the wiring loom, today I started looking at the temp sensors, I noticed the temp sensor for the system check and temp gauge on the clocks isn't working properly, is has continuity when cold and according to the Haynes manual it shouldn't, I also played with the ect sensor checked to see if the ohms drop as it heats up and it does, I don't know if its showing the correct ohms for the temperature because I didn't have a thermometer, could this be whats stopping the bike from starting by messing up my ignition timing ? today I took the ect sensor out of the engine after testing it I left it out hooked it up to the loom and earthed it, I placed it in a bowl of hot water and turned the bike over, the bike almost started, in fact its the closest its been to starting for a while but was back firing through the exhaust, when the water got down to body temperature the bike didn't want to start as much and I got the occasional pop through the carb, please can anyone tell me whats wrong, its an 02 Honda varadero 125, thank you
