Default Calling all onboard camera setups gurus (LSD please help!)

I found this:

http://www.pashnit.com/product/motocomm.html

What do you guys think of it? I want to start on all this of filming and editing quality riding videos, and don't want (nor have the $$$$ to spend) on a fully professional setup, so I was looking for something nice for a beginner.

Also, if you guys have any suggestions for a nice beginner-mid level setup, it would be appreciated

Leo, how much money are you looking to spend? Are you looking for a "bullet" (small lipstick camera you can put anywhere), or something small that go on the tank? Do you want to get crazy angles and stuff? If so, I'd recommend a "bullet" style setup.

Hero's GoPRO (Wide) seems to be getting popular. the only downfall i see with it is the video sometimes gets shaky/ripples. the camera comes with a bunch of mounts from what i understand, it's reasonably priced. http://www.goprocamera.com/
here's a video on Eric Bostom's Graves Yamaha R1. http://vimeo.com/1378972

edit: completely forgot to answer your quesiton in regards to the system you posted.
the system is ok. for the money i'd honestly buy something else. 320x240 reso. is kinda weak. i don't believe it's LANC compatible either, which comes in handy. LANC is basically remote stop/record button that you can mount on the triple tree for ease to record whenever you want, instead of having to hit record on the actual recorder. so yeah, for the money i'd look for something else. just my .02 on the matter.

GoPro sucks imo, sorry to say, but with video I honestly think you get what you pay for, LSD's cammera setup is great although a bit pricey, but I do think it would be more worth it that the GoPro or similarly priced stuff.

I have an ATC2K and it plain sucks.

Thanks for the input Rob. I was looking not to spend over 400$ (The annual limit on internet purchases imposed by Chavez).

I would like a bullet camera setup so I could start experimenting with different angles, to do movies in the same style as yours and theookie. Of course, not with the same level of quality, but someday I'll get there

Also I was looking for some versatility, being able to use it on my lid and such.

i got the goPro set up. first time using it at the track. turn 4 at big willow. BYE BYE camera.....

passed by it the next lap, and saw it on the ground, i was like "hey that looks kinda like....... wait a minute."

the shakiness of it is terrible, and it pics up some buzzing noise as well.

The GO-PRO camera is the best bang for the buck, cyclegear near me has them on sale for $140.

I used one at the track last season, videos came out great, the only problem I have is the mounting hardware it comes with isn't the most versitile. Also, its an all in one unit with no hide away recorder, so mounting it isn't as easy as mounting a bullet camera.

For the money though, you can't beat it.

I have a few youtube videos of me on the track shot with that camera, let me know if you want to see them.

I didn't have any of the problems CokeCan did.

$400 can get you a decent setup.

Samsung SC-X300L. 'tis the camera i used to have before my current one, and used to shoot a lot of my earlier vids. here's a vid from Willow Springs, chasing my buddy Danny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW70cfoOdSw
Pros:
batt. life.
small.
fairly priced.

Cons:
mic pics up a lot of windnoise. even when covered with tape and cotton.
quality of picture is ok.
picture gets shakey at times.
doesn't seem to work well at times in low light situations.

My buddy pieced together a bullet setup, i'll get info on it. i think he spent something like $300 or so. the quality is pretty good. here's a clip of him following me @ Willow Springs Raceway. don't pay attention to my crappy riding, it was my first time there, and 2nd trackday.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me1xlTr7mh4

Pros:
good quality.
good mic.
small.
bullet setup.

Cons:
non LANC compatible, but it does come with a wireless remote. bulky sized.
