2001 F4i, Laid down won't start
First off, yesterday I laid the bike down. I picked it up, started it and went to a bike meet in Fort Walton Beach. Came all the way home same night no problems. This morning I went to crank it up but it will not start. Fuel pump primes, motor turns over strong, NO FIRE. I'm lost on what this problem is. Battery checks good. Any thoughts? Thanks -Mike

i've heard that when you crash or lay down your bike that sometimes the voltage regulator goes out.
then on my 636 when i had it, it had been laid down and low and behold; i had to buy a new voltage regulator.

But why would it fire up after it went down initially then?

Re: (Vtec44)
I have already replaced the plugs and got raped while doing it...... $71.00 for plugs?!?!?!?! Anyway.... I took it to the shop and had them diagnose it and they said that it was my ECM..... they were wrong. I found a guy with an ECM and i tried his out and it didn't work on my bike.... put mine on his bike and it fired right up.. My thoughts now are that it might have something to do with the camshaft sensor. Everything else checks out... what do you guys think?

it's weird that it started right after then didn't start after you let it sit for a while.
it's definitely not BAS, fuel pump primes.
does it bump start?
i'd definitely start with spark.

Re: (bad-monkey)
I have checked everything that i can think of..... the shop said that my "pulse generator" was good, coils are good, and they stated that my ECM was bad(but its not). My problem is that there is NO SPARK. its wierd, because if i unplug my ecu, pull the coil out and ground thu plug and then plug my ecu back in it will spark 1 time when i plug it back in, but not when im trying to start it. its pretty confusing to me.....

Re: 2001 F4i, Laid down won't start
Hey Mike, Im new to this forum and actually have the same problem with my bike. I have a 2002 cbr f4i. I low sided it rode it back to my place and tried to start it the next day... no go. I changed spark plugs, changed ignition coils. I still have no spark and bike turns over but no start. If you figured out the solution to your problem. pls let me know. Id greatly appreciate it.

If your ECU and ignition coils are good, then I'd look at the ignition pickup. It's on the left side of the bike, and its wiring is along with the stator wires. I don't have measured values to test it, but I bet the pickup is bad. Bad pickup means the ECU will not know when to fire the coils.
This is a actually common on low-sided bikes.
