A friends will bike start just fine when cold, but when it gets warm it will lose power and die, while she is riding. No evidence of power exists. Then once it cools it will start right up. Found a lose wire near the rectifier/regulator and at first that seemed to fix the prob, but it still persists and dies when it gets warm. Not hot, just warm. It has 11000 miles on it and the battery was replaced last week

The symptoms of dying out and not starting till the bike cools down are pointing to an ignition problem, most likely the spark unit. However the slow loss of power and then dying points to a sticking choke that essentially flooding the bike till it fowls the plugs. Pull the plugs out and see if they are blacky and sooty and you'll have your answer.
