From stop, R turn wheel hop
I couldn't find any Fit forum, so if anyone knows where that is, please tell me.
I bought this 2008 Fit Sport manual tran last summer in CA, drove it to my new home in NC, all was well, but plugs were sputtering out near the end, I fixed that. Dealer linked to the CarFax report, it was excellent, all maintenance done on time. All parts seem stock, so I doubt it was raced. Suddenly about a week ago, I was greeted with a severe wheel hop (at least it feels and sounds like that), but ONLY for right turn from stop, never for left turn. It started just a few days ago, and is getting worse. It may only be from starting out cold, but I really hate to test it, because it feels and sounds like the wheel is about to break off! It took me by surprise, as it has never had any steering or suspension problems. It only has this wheel hop from stop, say I'm turning right from a stop sign. My home has a short uphill and stop sign still on the uphill, so I'm turning sharply and car is on uphill grade. If I really keep the RPM as low as possible, it is perfect, so it seems at some threshold of power applied, it activates the severe hopping. Should I just start replacing parts at random, starting with struts or someone thinks they know exactly?

Re: From stop, R turn wheel hop
After some thought, I don't think it is wheel hop, since there is no sound of skidding tire. Could it be a motor mount? It never makes any unusual sound just accelerating straight ahead, though.

Is it a somewhat rhythmic clunking sound? Can you hear it clunk at each turn of the tire?
It sounds like you may have a bad CV joint (or drive axle). A quick way to check is to inspect the rubber boots on each axle and see if any of them are torn. When the boot tears it allows the grease to kind of fling out everywhere, so you may see a streak of grease on your trans/engine components.
You should search youtube for "bad cv joint" or "torn cv boot". You might find a video with the sound this type of failure makes, and you can compare what you're hearing.
Here's a picture showing a drive axle and the rubber boots you may want to inspect. There is one of these for each front wheel.

Just to be 110% sure you guys understand, it is PERFECT, no sound, no clunk, nothing unusual at all at any speed, any gear, when driving. This banging sound (like hitting a steel door with your fist) is ONLY when turning right from a full stop. The car sounds perfect when driving or when turning left from a stop. Is that CV-joint?
